Edmonton Area - Girl Guides of Canada We are part of a national organization that empowers girls and women to achieve Girl Greatness We are always open to receiving new members.

We encompass all of the City of Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Ardrossan, South Cooking Lake, and Fort McMurray. We offer programs from Sparks (aged 5) up to Rangers (finish at 18) and opportunities for women to volunteer in a variety of areas.

Bus Cost: $62 per person plus event cost ($69 total)

Please note, it's not required to include all names and iMIS numbers of Guider/Youth.

Dog Daze will be held in Northern Lights District in Fort McMurray! This is a green level event and Unit Guiders will be responsible for providing proper ratio, first aid, and Safe Guide paperwork required. Activities will be focused on outdoor winter fun. Details will be sent to registered units after registration has closed.

As the event is in Fort McMurray, we have put a deposit on a charter bus to take folks to Fort Mac. It is cost recovery, and the cost has been calculated into the event cost for those needing to travel.

As this is a special occasion, event capacity has been increased to 450.

Please only register numbers for people actually attending - do not register the whole unit if they are not all attending.

If event is full when you register, please go on the wait list as often spots open up the week leading up to the event.



Additional Details:

• It is suggested that all members bring a full water bottle.

• If you decide to bring snacks, please no nuts and no bananas as members with airborne allergies to both will be present.

• If you are coming on the bus, this will be an all day event.

◦ ​Approx. 8am - 8pm

◦ Times will be confirmed once registration is closed

◦ Units/Youth will need to bring their own lunch, snacks, and supper.

• Please indicate any airborne/contact allergies during registration so we can plan accordingly to avoid contamination.

Payments:

By submitting a registration, you indicate that you've reviewed and agree to the Event Registration Terms & Conditions below. Payment for this event may be made by Unit Bank Transfer. The national office will be processing the transfers on your behalf. Payments do not take place automatically.



Terms and Conditions



Refund policies differ from event to event and are posted on each individual registration form. All requests for a refund must be submitted and approved by the Event Planner of the event. Refunds are provided via the same method used to pay for the event.

Modules 2, 4, 7 Information

Have you completed the TEAM Tent Camping modules or have equivalent experience and are looking to expand your knowledge to the next step? Then this is for you!
Join other adventurous Guiders in October for training in Navigation (Module 4), Campsite Management (Module 7) and Risk Assessment (Module 2) on your journey to receive your Adventure Camping pin and to take your girls into the backcountry. The training will take place at the Alberta Council Guide House in Edmonton. The Navigation session runs all day Saturday, rain or shine. We will work into the evening with the Campsite Management module then complete Risk Assessment on Sunday morning. You will be on your way home early Sunday afternoon. Participants are responsible for their own meals both days. Some participants may wish to sleep at the Guide House on Friday and Saturday




Navigation Information:

Join other adventurous Guiders for a full day training in Navigation (Module 4). This training is targeted at guiders who are working on their Adventure Camping pin and need a refresher, and at guiders interested in learning about map and compass. We will discuss topographical maps, pairing compass with a map, taking map bearings etc. The training will take place at the Alberta Council Guide House and in a neighbouring park in Edmonton. This session runs mostly outdoors, rain or shine/ Participants are responsible for all meals, including Saturday lunch.



Accommodation: For Modules 2, 4, 7 training, space is available at the Guide House for anyone needing accommodation.

Meals: You are responsible for all meals. We will go out as a group for Saturday night dinner. You are encouraged to bring some snacks and alternatives if you have food allergies or restrictions.
