Victor Jara Chilean Folk Dancers Victor Jara Chilean Folk Dancers, we are more than just a dance group. The Victor Jara Chilean Folk Dancers have been active in the city of Edmonton since 1976.

Our main objective is to maintain and share the Chilean culture through dancing. The group is currently made up of 15 dancers ranging in ages from 5 to 30+ with the majority born in Canada. We have danced and performed in many venues & concerts throughout Alberta showcasing the folklore from all regions of Chile. Our performances/shows consist of dances from the Chilean highlands in the north; dances from the central region; dances from the island of Chiloe in the southern region and dances from Easter Island. We are proud to bear the name of Victor Jara. He was a Chilean composer, songwriter, choreographer and artist who was killed by the military dictatorship which took power in Chile on September 11, 1973. His main objective was to maintain and share the Chilean culture and this is why we chose his name for our group.

Eterno Victor - nuestro grupo de baile nunca te olvidará 🌹
Pinochet y su dictadura en Chile lo asesinaron hace 53 años atrás pero su ejemplo, canto y trabajo sigue vivo en la memoria de todo el mundo.
