There’s a lot to be thankful for in our volleyball community. 💙

The teammates who become friends. The coaches who give their time. The referees who make competition possible. The volunteers who quietly keep things moving. The families who drive the kilometres, fill the stands, and support from the sidelines.

This Thanksgiving weekend, we’re simply taking a moment to appreciate the people who show up for our sport and for one another.

Mental health matters, on and off the court.

This World Mental Health Day, we're reminding our volleyball community that behind every athlete, coach, referee, volunteer, parent, teammate, and supporter is a person first.

Mental health can look different for everyone. Sometimes it's visible. Often, it isn't. Checking in, listening without judgment, making space for conversation, or asking for help yourself can all matter.

Today, and every day, let's continue building a volleyball community where we look out for one another, and where asking for support is recognized as a sign of strength.

Club Hosted Tournament Sanctioning Opens Today!

Starting October 1, Volleyball Alberta registered clubs in good standing can submit their 12U–18U Club Hosted Tournaments for sanctioning. Please submit the form 4 business weeks before the tournament start date to provide enough time for sanctioning approval and referees to be assigned.

✔️ Sanctioned tournaments are covered under Volleyball Alberta’s insurance policy.

✔️ Sanctioned tournaments will be posted on our website with in 3 business days of being approved.

✔️ Organizers must confirm all participants are registered competitive members with their club, Volleyball Alberta, and Volleyball Canada.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, Survivors, their families, and their communities.

It is a time to reflect on our shared history, recognize the lasting impacts of the residential school system, and commit to meaningful action.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission outlined 94 Calls to Action. Numbers 87 to 91 highlight the role of sport in reconciliation: a responsibility we take seriously.

Together, we can help advance reconciliation in and through sport.
