๐ŸŒง๏ธ Event Postponement Notice ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Due to today's weather conditions and the rain-sensitive nature of several of the creative activities planned for the gathering, we have made the difficult decision to postpone today's Indigenous Art Park event.

We know many of you were looking forward to spending time together in circle, sharing stories, teachings, and creative reflection in this special space. Our goal is to ensure participants can fully experience everything that was planned, and unfortunately today's forecast does not allow for that.
We are currently working with Elder Lance and our Indigenous Committee to find a new date and will share the rescheduled event details as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and continued support. We look forward to gathering with you soon.

๐ŸŒŽ Happy World Environment Day! ๐ŸŒฟ

Today is a reminder of the importance of protecting and caring for the natural spaces that connect our communities and support the health of people, wildlife, and ecosystems.
The North Saskatchewan River Valley is one of the largest continuous urban park systems in North America and provides vital habitat, recreational opportunities, and places for reflection, learning, and connection to nature.

At the River Valley Alliance, we believe connected trails help foster a deeper appreciation for the environment and encourage people to experience the river valley in a meaningful and sustainable way.

From forests and wetlands to riverbanks and wildlife corridors, every section of the valley plays an important role in the ecological health of our region. Through trail connectivity, stewardship initiatives, educational programming, and community partnerships, we are working to help more people access and appreciate these incredible landscapes.

Today, we encourage everyone to spend time outdoors, learn about the ecosystems around you, and consider the small ways we can all help protect the places we love for future generations. ๐ŸŒฑ

Whatโ€™s your favourite way to connect with nature in the river valley? ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ Happy World Bicycle Day! ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Today we celebrate the bicycle โ€” a simple yet powerful way to connect people to community, nature, health, and adventure.

The North Saskatchewan River Valley is home to some of the most scenic cycling routes in the region, offering opportunities to explore forests, bridges, parks, viewpoints, and trails stretching across multiple municipalities along Amisk Wacรฎw Mรชskanaw.

Whether youโ€™re commuting, mountain biking, enjoying a family ride, or taking on a long-distance journey through the river valley, cycling helps people experience the trail system in a meaningful and sustainable way.

At the River Valley Alliance, we believe that connected trails create healthier communities and make it easier for people to access and enjoy the outdoors without getting in a car.
So today, we encourage you to get outside, hop on your bike, and explore a new section of the trail. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿšฒ

Whereโ€™s your favourite place to ride in the river valley? Let us know in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŒฟ Slow down. Breathe deeply. Reconnect with nature.

Join the River Valley Alliance on Saturday, June 20, for a guided Forest Bathing Walk in Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park with Allan Bly of Forest Lens.

Forest bathing, inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, is a mindful experience that invites you to slow down and engage your senses in the natural world. This isn't a hike focused on distance or speedโ€”it's an opportunity to pause, be present, and experience the sights, sounds, scents, and textures of the forest in a meaningful way.

Spending intentional time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance overall well-being. Whether you're looking to recharge, find a moment of calm, or simply experience the river valley in a new way, this walk is for you.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Event Cancellation Notice

Due to the persistent rain and wet conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today's Art, Story & Circle: An Indigenous Art Park Gathering.

This gathering was designed to take place outdoors, with participants moving between art installations for storytelling, teachings, reflection, and creative activities. Unfortunately, today's weather would not allow us to provide the experience we had hoped to share.

We know many of you were looking forward to this event, and we are disappointed to have to cancel.
The River Valley Alliance Indigenous Committee is exploring options to reschedule the gathering when we have more favorable weather conditions. We will share a new date as soon as it is confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to gathering with you soon to connect through land, story, art, and community.

๐Ÿšด Event Cancellation Notice

Due to the weather forecast and the potential for unsafe riding conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's Beaver Hill Bridge Cycling Tour.

The safety of our participants and volunteers is always our top priority. While we're disappointed that we won't be able to share this exciting ride across the new Edmontonโ€“Strathcona County Footbridge with you, we believe this is the best decision given the forecast.

We will explore opportunities to reschedule the tour later this year and will share updates if a new date is confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you at a future River Valley Alliance event.
