We're excited to be visiting The Canadian Native Friendship Centre today to talk about OneMatch, the stem cell and marrow network!

We strongly encourage you to join us at their main location, 11728 95 Street, at 2PM for a conversation on what it means to be a stem cell donor and how we, as youth, can improve representation in the database. By better representing Canada's diverse population, we can give greater hope to patients in need.

Canadian Blood Services Summer Youth Ambassador Volunteer Positions Available:

The Summer Youth Program is recruiting volunteers’ aged 14-24 to promote Canadian Blood Services in Edmonton during June, July, and August 2018 at special events. Summer Youth Program Volunteers will promote Canadian Blood Services at events such as K Days, Canada Day and other community events, info booths, and festivals. Our volunteers help to raise awareness and inform the public about the importance of blood donation and ways that Edmontonians can get involved. Commitment is flexible, but summer volunteers are expected to commit to 2-4 hour shifts at various events throughout the summer.

Summer Youth Program Volunteers will gain valuable leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. In addition to helping the community, the youth program is a great way to meet an enthusiastic and friendly group of people, as well as to gain experience in an important part of the Canadian health care system.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with 1000 Swabs today! It was a huge success. And a shout out to everyone who got swabbed today. It was so nice to see everyone come together for such a good cause. Without this much help, none of this would have been possible. Every minute that each of you put in went towards helping those in dire need. So thanks again! :D

Hey YC!
As you all know, 1000 Swabs is coming up extremely fast and we're just in the midst of last minute preparations. However, we're still in need of many volunteers to fill all the empty shifts we have right now. Please take a look at the list below and comment below with a time when you'll be able to take on a shift. Even if you have to be 5 minutes late or leave 5 minutes early for a class, its no problem and we encourage you to sign up anyways.
Keep in mind, this is a wildcard event so it's fantastic chance to help you get those last few hours in to finish your contract! Also, if you didnt have a chance to come to our first training session last semester, that's perfectly alright as well as we will be having a crash course training the night before on Monday, January 19 (If you're not able to make that one, but have come to the last one, thats great too!).
As most of you have heard of the incredible importance of the OneMatch program, you know that it has so much potential to save the lives of people who are in dire need. This is a unique opportunity we have to actually be on campus amidst the key demographic we're looking for to really help build the OneMatch database. Every single hour you're putting into helping the cause makes such a difference!
So now that your classes are probably a little more finalized, we really strongly encourage you to sign up and help us make this event a success!
