PAWS For Life Rescue Providing Animals with Safety for Life (PAWS For Life) is a non-profit dog rescue in Edmonton, AB.

The dogs PAWS rescues are often scheduled for euthanization, and PAWS is their last hope. Volunteers donate their time to help rehabilitate these animals by helping them with basic manners, any behavioral issues, providing them with safety, medical care, and most importantly, love. We strive to place the dogs into loving, compassionate foster homes until we find their perfect forever home.

🩵 FRANNIE UPDATE 🩵

Our sweet Frannie, the puppy born with three bladders, has officially recovered from her surgery 🐾 but unfortunately, while the surgery helped improve her incontinence, it didn’t completely resolve the issue.

We’re continuing to explore medication options to help manage her symptoms and keep her as dry, comfortable, and happy as possible.

A huge thank you to Crestwood Veterinary Centre for their continued care and guidance throughout Frannie’s journey. We’re so grateful to have a veterinary team working alongside us to navigate her unique medical needs and find the best ways to improve her quality of life! 🩵🐾

If you would like to help our rescue with her rather substantial veterinary bill, please see options below!

🩵 OCTOBER 22ND… NATIONAL MAKE A DOG’S DAY! 🩵

Today, we want to make a very special girl’s day. Meet Eva, our longest-term resident, who has been waiting in rescue for over TWO YEARS.

Recently, we shared Dolly’s story, and she received an overwhelming 80+ adoption applications in just 48 hours! While we are absolutely thrilled for Dolly, we can’t help but wonder… when will it be Eva’s turn?

Eva is a wonderful dog, and honestly, we can’t understand why she continues to be overlooked. She deserves a family of her own, a place to call home, and a chance to finally be someone’s everything.

We know her family is out there somewhere… And today, on National Make a Dog’s Day, we’re hoping the power of social media can help us find them, as after more than two years of waiting, we would love nothing more than to see Eva’s story end with the happily-ever-after she so deeply deserves.

So today we are asking that you please share her story, tag a friend, and help us get her face in front of the person who might just fall in love with her, just as our staff and volunteers have. 🩵🐾

🩵 DOLLY 🩵

➖UPDATE: No Longer Accepting Adoption Applications ➖

Age: 1 year (approx.)
Gender: Female
Breed: Corgi X

About Dolly:

This young Corgi girl has already been through more than any dog should. After a traumatic delivery, Dolly was rushed into emergency care, where she sadly lost six of her puppies. Thankfully, quick intervention saved her life, and she recovered in a loving foster home alongside her one surviving little pup. 🩵

Now, after raising her baby Dottie in foster care and being a wonderful young mom, it’s finally Dolly’s turn to find a forever family of her own! 🐾

Dolly is a sweet, sassy little girl with a BIG personality! She is house-trained and kennel-trained and can happily share her home with cats, dogs, and children with proper introductions. She isn’t much of a barker but will let you know when someone is at the door!

This pint-sized girl has plenty of charm and character to share with one lucky family. After everything she’s been through, Dolly deserves a home where she can settle in, feel safe, and be loved just as much as she deserves. 🩵

Adoption Fee: $475
Includes microchip, spay, all vaccines, and deworming.

Please note: PAWS for Life adopts to force-free homes only. Dolly’s future family must be committed to positive, reward-based training methods.

🩵 INTERESTED IN FOSTERING? WE’RE RECRUITING! 🩵

Although our shelter is open at a limited capacity, foster homes remain an incredibly important part of helping us save more lives and say YES to more dogs in need. 🐾

Every foster home gives a dog or puppy the chance to experience life outside the shelter, decompress and learn in a home environment, and build confidence and a sense of stability while waiting for their forever home.

Fostering also helps us make room for more dogs in need and allows us to better understand each dog’s personality, needs, and ideal home environment so we can find the best possible forever placement.

If you’ve been thinking about fostering, we’d love to hear from you! 🩵🩵🩵

🩵 DID YOU KNOW? IT IS NATIONAL ADOPT A SHELTER DOG MONTH! 🩵

In honour of this, we want to shine a little extra light on two very special girls who have been in our care since before our new facility even opened. Sadly, they’re growing up in rescue.

These sisters came to us as part of a litter of five. Three of their sisters found their forever homes as puppies, but for some reason, Patti and Selma have received little to no interest.

Although they look alike, they each have their own unique personalities, hilarious little quirks, and SO much love to give the right families. They’ve spent their entire puppyhood in rescue, waiting for someone to see just how special they are.

Our team is hopeful we can change their story and help them find forever homes before their first birthdays arrive!

If you, or someone you know is looking for a lovely, loyal companion who’s past the tiny puppy stage but still has plenty of youthful energy, trainability, and potential to grow with you, Please reach out as Patti or Selma might just be your perfect match. 🩵🐾

🩵 TUCKER NEEDS A FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME! 🩵

At just 1.5 years old, Tucker is really struggling with shelter life, and we’re looking for an experienced home to help him thrive.

Tucker needs someone who understands anxious dogs and can provide the structure and patience he needs.

One thing we’ve noticed is that Tucker is finding his confidence and overcoming fears when he has a confident dog by his side! A well-adjusted canine companion may be a huge asset in helping him continue to grow.

Tucker has so much potential, but he needs the right person (and doggy sidekick!) to help him find it. 🩵

🩵 SNOOP 🩵
Now Accepting Adoption Applications!

Age: 10–12 months (approx.)
Gender: Male
Breed: Chihuahua X

About Snoop:

Snoop came to PAWS feeling scared, unsure, and much too skinny. The world felt like a pretty big place for this little guy!

Today, he’s completed his vetting and has been slowly coming out of his shell in foster care. 🐾 Now, he’s ready to find a very special forever home!

Snoop is looking for an adult-only home where he can be the only dog, with someone who understands the importance of patience and respecting his boundaries with a fearful dog.

As a small dog, Snoop needs people who understand that being little doesn’t mean he should have to tolerate being picked up, handled, or reached for when he’s uncomfortable. Snoop specifically struggles with hands reaching toward him, so his future family must be willing to give him autonomy, let him make choices, and allow him to approach when he feels ready. 🩵

He may take time to warm up to new people, but once he learns to trust you, his loving side begins to shine. That relationship just won’t happen overnight, and he needs someone who understands that earning his trust is a process worth respecting.

… And don’t let his little size fool you! Snoop loves going for walks and staying active. He’s looking for a family who will enjoy getting out and exploring with him, not one expecting a lazy little lapdog. 🐾

Adoption Fee: $550
Includes microchip, spay/neuter, all vaccines, and deworming.

Please note: PAWS for Life adopts to force-free homes only. Snoop’s future family must be committed to positive, reward-based training methods and respecting his individual needs.
