Animal Care & Control helps ensure everyone's safe, healthy and peaceful enjoyment of Edmonton neighbourhoods.

We enforce the Animal Licensing and Control Bylaw which makes owners responsible for their pet’s actions, helps return lost pets to their owners, minimizes stray animals and ensures pets are a positive addition to the community. The Animal Care & Control Centre is where Edmonton’s stray and lost pets are housed. The facility offers safe-harbour for sick, injured, and lost pets as well as victims of animal neglect, cruelty and abandonment. We house and care for these pets until such time as their rightful owners can be found or they are transferred to a rescue for adoption.

Wind gusts and flying objects can frighten or injure pets. Below are some tips to consider to keep your pets safe on these blustery days.
- Keep your pets indoors if possible
- If taking them outside be sure that they are on a leash
- Check your gates to make sure they haven’t swung open and created an escape route for your pet
- Knock on the hood of your car and do a walk around to make sure there isn't a cat seeking warmth

Please remember that pets can get out. Your pet licence and an up-to-date ID makes it easier for the Finder to contact you should your cat get lost, or should it find its way to our shelter we can more quickly reunite the two of you. be reunited with you.

Did you know that October 5–9 marks National Customer Service Appreciation Week? It’s one of our absolute favorite times of the year because it allows us to highlight the compassionate heart of the Animal Care and Control Centre (ACCC). Every day, our dedicated team provides amazing care for animals and uses their incredible sleuthing skills to help reunite lost pets with their families as quickly as possible.

𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲
This year’s appreciation theme centers on going the extra mile—a standard our Customer Service team lives by every day. Composed of outstanding Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and Customer Service Advisors (CSAs), this small but mighty team serves as the welcoming front line for Edmontonians, whether over the phone or in person.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁
Our customer service team wears many hats to serve our community. Their daily work includes:
😸Educating & Guiding: Promoting responsible pet ownership and assisting owners with pet licensing.
🐶Managing Care & Intake: Scheduling intake appointments efficiently.
😻Reuniting Pets & Families: Searching microchip databases (EIDAP) and combing through online lost-and-found listings.

Through it all, our team continuously goes above and beyond to:

🐾Share in your excitement when a new furry friend joins your family.
🐾Reunite families after long, sleepless nights searching for lost pets.
🐾Give hope to those who are still looking.
🐾Offer a soft place to fall and a compassionate ear when the news isn't easy.
