Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit

EIGHT years ago today we opened the doors to the Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit!

We imagined a reality where charities and non-profits worked together, side-by-side, under one roof to better serve and support our communities. We've hit roadblocks, survived a pandemic, faced economic and funding challenges, and here we are today...EIGHT years strong and firmly committed to being here for our partners and community well into the future. This is definetly worth a CELEBRATION!

Our commitment has always been to provide an affordable, collaborative, and dependable home for local charities and non-profits. We've grown from 14 organizations in our first year, to 26 organizations in our eighth year. This is not just a place for the over 200 people of these organizations to come to work; this is their space where they are respected, appreciated, and treated as the professionals they are! As a collective, we can scale-up to meet community need and be resilient during times of economic and funding challenges.

Join us in celebrating 8 years by leaving a message of thanks we can share with our 26 charity and non-profit partners! Donations are always welcome and appreciated as we remain committed to the long-term sustainability of the Jerry Forbes Centre.

We received a very generous donation from the Ulmer Family and their wish is for us to use the funds for "The highest priority need of your organization." They believe in our purpose and trust us to decide where and how their donation will be most impactful. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Ulmer Family for their ongoing support and thank them for taking the time to visit and tour the Jerry Forbes Centre. They are proudly recognized on our Community Living Wall!

Today on Giving Tuesday, we’re asking our community to help protect something truly essential.

At the Jerry Forbes Centre, 26 charities and non-profits grow here, live here, and serve our city every single day. This shared home provides them with zero rent (only shared operating costs), strengthens collaboration, and lets them focus on helping the people who need them most.

But this home only exists if the Jerry Forbes Centre Foundation remains strong.

Your Giving Tuesday donation helps keep a roof over the heads of the helpers ensuring these organizations have a stable place to work, support families, and deliver vital programs.

If you want your gift to have impact across 26 organizations at once, please consider supporting the Foundation today. Every gift matters. Every gift grows. Thank you for supporting the home that supports so many.

"You need better signage.", I comment we heard often from visitors to the Centre. With just our name on the awning over our main entrance, we knew it was time for an upgrade and greater visibility for those coming to the Jerry Forbes Centre.

Today is THE DAY! With a generous gift from the Kiwanis Club of Edmonton (Downtown), we were able to install the Jerry Forbes Centre name in a highly visible location on the exterior of the Centre.

As we head into the busiest months of the year for the organizations at the Centre, this new signage will be an important new addition!

Thank you to General Signs & Service Ltd.
