Alberta Fish and Game Association

Alberta Fish and Game Association Leaders in Conservation. The Alberta Wildlife Federation leads the way for conservation in Alberta with our extensive history and impactful advocacy.

The Alberta Wildlife Federation - formerly Alberta Fish and Game Association(AFGA) - was founded in 1908 to protect and promote Alberta’s fish, wildlife and habitat for the enjoyment of all Albertans. It is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that, as of December 31, 2010 has grown to more than 20,400 members from 14,000 since 2002. AWF’s members are present in more than 440 communities thr

oughout Alberta and collectively provide volunteer capacity for AWF projects that benefit all Albertans such as land stewardship, conservation of sensitive habitats, w**d control, boater and hunter safety programs, nest-box building, school presentations, and other activities. Though the majority of its members are hunters and/or anglers, many others join to assist in AWF’s conservation efforts. AFGA also offers family memberships so our children and grandchildren can learn more about their living legacy, and how to protect and conserve it today and in the future. In support of this, it is of interest to note that of the three membership types available---youth, regular, and family--- it is the latter that has shown the greatest percentage increase thus indicating the relevance of today’s Alberta Wildlife Federation to a younger demographic.

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that caring for the land starts close to home.

Healthy land means healthy wildlife, clean water, and space for all of us to connect with nature.
