Every other Monday* from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., an ECLC Community Worker is on-site at the C5 Northgate Hub (13530 97 Street) to provide legal information, compassionate support, and can help connect you with other legal supports.

In honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Samantha, ECLC’s Indigenous Liaison, shares her reflections on the significance of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, and why reconciliation must be an ongoing commitment rather than a single day of recognition.

Reminder: Our office will be closed tomorrow, September 30, in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

As we mark this important day, we encourage everyone to take time to listen to Indigenous voices, learn about the lasting impacts of residential schools, reflect on the history, and remember those who have been, and continue to be affected.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires continued action, conversations, understanding, and commitment from us all.

A look back at last Friday's Career Day at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.

We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many passionate students and future legal professionals as they explored their career paths. Conversations like these are an important part of building a stronger, more accessible justice system, and we hope to stay connected as your legal journeys unfold. Perhaps we'll see you volunteering with, partnering with, or engaging with ECLC in the years ahead! 💜

It was also wonderful to reconnect with other members of the legal community, including representatives from Parlee McLaws LLP, Duncan Craig LLP, and the Department of Justice.

Recently, we were fortunate to gain insight into the Calgary Community Court! Thank you to our friends at for hosting us!

Launched in 2024, the Calgary Community Court represents an innovative approach to justice that connects Calgarians experiencing vulnerabilities with a court diversion process to resolve bylaw infractions. Participants of this program may be referred to community initiatives instead of receiving fines or other punitive measures. The aim is to guide individuals towards rehabilitation and stability.
