What do foster families do? 💙
They do much more than provide a roof over a child’s head.
They celebrate birthdays that might otherwise be forgotten.
They comfort children after nightmares.
They cheer from the sidelines at soccer games and school events.
They help with homework, teach life skills, and listen to stories about hard days.
They create traditions, share meals, pray together, and offer the consistency every child needs.
Most importantly, they show children what it feels like to belong.

At Father’s House International, we believe every child deserves the love of a family. That’s why we work so hard to support foster families in Romania, South Africa, and Mexico. Through them, children experience not only safety and stability, but the practical love of Jesus lived out day by day.

A foster family cannot erase a child’s past, but they can help rewrite their future.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our BBQ fundraiser this weekend! 🧡
Saturday brought perfect weather and a great crowd, while Sunday challenged us with cold, rain, and wind—but we still had a wonderful time and made the most of it.
Special thanks to Leduc Co-op for donating most of the food and providing the BBQ, Tofield Packers for their generous discount on the burgers, and Salisbury Greenhouse in Sherwood Park for hosting us once again. We’re also grateful to all the staff, customers, volunteers, and supporters who stopped by.
A special shout-out to Brooklynn for making the delicious sarmale (Romanian cabbage rolls) that were a big hit!
Thank you for helping make the weekend a success. We appreciate every person who came out to support the cause!💙

🧡 Why are foster families so important?

Because every child deserves to experience the love of Jesus through the safety and care of a family.

Children don’t just need food, clothing, or shelter. They need to be seen, comforted, guided, and reminded that they are deeply loved and valued by God.

That’s why foster families matter so much.

They open their homes and hearts to children who have experienced loss, trauma, and uncertainty, becoming a living reflection of Christ’s love through everyday moments of patience, grace, and compassion.

At Father’s House International, we believe children thrive best in families. That is why we work so hard to support foster families through training, encouragement, community, prayer, and practical care.

Fostering is beautiful, but it is not easy. Families need support as they faithfully say “yes” to caring for vulnerable children.

When we strengthen foster families, we help create homes where children can heal, grow, and begin to understand the unconditional love of their Heavenly Father 💙

Save the Date! 💙👟
The Global Care-a-thon Walk-a-thon began in 1975 as a small Sunday school initiative at Heimdal Community Church. What started as a conversation between teachers Hattie Kellert, Mimi Wenger, and their students grew into a movement that has impacted children around the world.
Over the past 50 years, this incredible initiative has raised more than $2 million to support children in need in Calcutta, Romania, and beyond.

🧡 Meet Spar Gumede 💙
For 16 years, Spar has been saying “yes” to children who needed love the most.
As a devoted foster mother with Fathers House International in South Africa, she has welcomed 13 children into her home, each one arriving with their own story, their own needs, and their own hope for belonging. From infants to teens, sibling groups, emergency and long-term placements, Spar has embraced them all with open arms.
When she reflects on her journey, she simply says, “They have been good to me since the beginning.” Behind those words is a story of faithfulness, perseverance, and a quiet strength that has changed lives.
One of her most recent cherished moments was watching baby Lubanzi take his very first steps. After many years without caring for an infant, it was a moment that felt especially tender, a reminder of the beauty found in the small, everyday milestones that mean everything.
Thirteen children. Countless moments of comfort, growth, and love. A lifetime of impact.
Spar’s story is a reminder that it’s often the steady, everyday “yes” that changes the world, one child, one moment, one family at a time.
We are deeply grateful for mothers like Spar, who open their hearts again and again, creating places where children are not just cared for, but truly known and loved.

Crazy week in Mexico!

In Mexico, this is a cherished tradition in schools leading up to Children’s Day known as “Semana Loca” (Crazy Week). Throughout the week, kids participate in themed days like crazy hair, costumes, and fun outfits. This week, our Father’s House families are experiencing that joy together as Semana Loca builds excitement and anticipation for Día del Niño (Children’s Day).
These moments matter. They build connection, spark imagination, and create memories that children carry with them for years.
In Mexico, Día del Niño(April 30) is a beautiful reminder of the value of every child. It’s a day that calls us to celebrate their lives and to reflect on the kind of childhood we’re helping create for them.
Our heart is to see every child experience a childhood full of love, family, joy, and meaningful memories. 🧡
Thank you for being part of a community that celebrates children, not just for a day, but in the way we care for them every day. 💙

🧡 A New Beginning in South Africa

At just 5 years old, this little girl has already walked through more than any child should.

Recently, she was welcomed into a Father’s House family, reunited with her older sibling who has been in their care for 13 years.

What a gift… and what a responsibility.

This “yes,” in a moment of urgent need, was only the beginning because it means more love, more care, and more support are needed for her to heal, grow, and truly thrive in a safe and stable home.

We are so grateful for families who open their doors, but they don’t do it alone.

💙 Meet the Coman Family🧡

Rodica and Vasile Coman have been part of Father’s House in Romania for the past 9 years, faithfully opening their home and hearts to children in need.

Over the years, they have cared for 11 children, currently raising three (ages 14, 12, and 10), and previously welcoming eight little ones from just 3 weeks to 4 years old.

One of the most powerful parts of their journey is the story of Petruta.

She came into their family at 9 years old, while her five siblings were placed in different foster homes. For two years, Petruta faithfully prayed to be reunited with them, and God answered in a remarkable way.

After three other children in the Coman family were adopted, space opened in their home. In what they describe as a very supernatural way, they were then able to welcome Petruta’s brother, Petru, and her only sister, Florina.

Florina, who has special needs, and Petru, who is thriving in school, are both deeply loved and cared for. The Comans truly believe God placed them in their family for a purpose.

🙏 Their prayer is simple and powerful: that each of these children would grow to know and follow Jesus.

The Coman family shares how meaningful it is to be part of the Father’s House community, a place where families support one another, pray together, and walk through both challenges and victories side by side.

From monthly gatherings to unforgettable summer camps, these moments have created lasting memories filled with joy, connection, and spiritual growth, for both parents and children.

And in the middle of it all? Lots of family time and plenty of competitive board games ❤️

Thank you, Rodica and Vasile, for the love, faith, and dedication you pour into these children. Your family is a beautiful reflection of God’s heart for His children.
