Little history lesson on UBAKA. Originated back in 2012. Quick read. Enjoy.
U B.A.K.A. URBAN BULLDOGS AGAINST KIDS ABUSE.
EL ORIGEN.
FUNDADOR.
One evening in 2012, while watching the evening news, I saw the story of a child who had been abused and sexually assaulted by her stepfather with complete impunity.
Deeply shaken by the thought of this little girl's life being shattered forever, I said to myself:
“We can't let this happen. We can't stand by and do nothing in the face of the evil that is child abuse.”
But what could we do? How could we make a difference?
Then it hit me.
Our motorcycle club, the Urban Bulldogs.
As luck would have it, we already had a meeting scheduled for the very next day. I would present the idea to my brothers around the table.
I couldn't wait.
The big night arrived. I heard the rumble of motorcycle engines and recognized the voice of our Security Of
ficer, Franck, arriving with Phil and Pat.
Everyone took their seats around the table, and after we had gone through the regular agenda, I began telling my brothers what I had seen the night before—what I had felt, the pain it caused me, and my desire to do something.
For nearly half an hour, I spoke without a single interruption.
As I looked around the room, I could see that every one of them had been deeply affected by that horrific story.
Pat, our Vice President, had tears in his eyes.
Big Phil, despite his rugby-player build and tattoo-covered arms, sat in silence.
Franck had already made up his mind—you could see it in his eyes.
Fabien, true to himself, remained quiet, but every word mattered to him.
Then it was time to vote.
That vote would prove to be a defining moment in the history of our organization, although none of us knew it at the time.
So I asked the only question that mattered:
“Who is in favor of the Urban Bulldogs becoming a shield against pe******ia and all forms of child abuse?”
In perfect unison, without a second of hesitation, every hand in the room went up.
And at that very moment,
URBAN BULLDOGS AGAINST KIDS ABUSE was born.
Founded in 2012 by five men who refused to look away when children needed protection.
Because no child should ever stand alone.
