SAVE THE DATE!!
The Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta is thrilled to announce that it will be hosting the Moose Hide Campaign Day in partnership with the City of Edmonton - Local Government for the third consecutive year! Our event aims to create awareness about the Campaign to end domestic violence against Indigneous Women and Girls in the City of Edmonton with the help of numerous community champions. The day will be filled with dance performances, singing, elders, knowledge keepers, and a community walk. Additionally, ISCA has collaborated with Beyond Diversity to link the ceremony at IKWC - kihcihkaw askî Sacred Land.
The Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-led initiative that was launched by co-founders Paul Lacerte and his daughter Raven in 2011, while hunting together on their traditional Carrier territory. They were close to the Highway of Tears in northern British Columbia, where countless women, girls, and Two-Spirited Plus individuals, particularly Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirited Plus individuals, have gone missing or been murdered.
The event will be held at Edmonton City Hall Plaza Thursday, May 16th, from 1 pm to 4 pm and we will then move to Kihcihkaw askî-Sacred Land from 4 pm to 8 pm, respectively. The latter event will consist of a Breakfast Ceremony, Talking Circles, and a time of gathering.
