📣 Announcing Our Second Speaker for the FIRE Indigenous Spotlight Series!
This Saturday October 26th 2:30PM - 5PM, join us for a presentation and workshop with Gerry Lawson from the UBC Museum of Anthropology on Indigitization: Tools for Digitizing and Sustaining Indigenous Knowledge.
In collaboration with the Edmonton Public Library (EPL), this event aims to empower Indigenous communities, educators, and heritage practitioners to preserve and manage their own cultural heritage. Participants will learn about EPL’s Digitization Kits, available to rent at no cost, and explore best practices for digitizing oral stories, songs, ceremonies, and historical records.

Keynote Speaker: Gerry is a member of the Heiltsuk First Nation and manages the Oral History and Language Lab at the UBC Museum of Anthropology. He is the Indigitization Technology Lead, sits on the Program’s Steering Committee and helped to develop the digitization resources that grew into the Indigitization Grant Program.
As the Technology Lead for the Indigitization Program, Gerry oversees all technical skills-based programing.
