The work you do as teachers and educators makes an impact on the next generation. It is a unique opportunity to pour into students and breathe life through the application of scripture in every aspect of learning.

When we approach students in taking that model for learning, exploration, growth, and development, we want them to be bold in their understanding. The world can often feel so big for a student who wants to make an impact or a change in their community. But we can encourage them as teachers through the words of 1 Timothy 4:12.

Let the world not look down on them just because they are young, but may they be encouraged to set an example by your example, and lead with love and faith in all that they do. May their conduct be reflective of the teachings and applications of their Christian education, which has been set as foundation for them to go out into the world and be ambassadors of Christ.

Meet our Manager of Mission Advancement & Growth, Shay Notenbomer!

It has been a year and a few months since I started with Christian Education Benefit Solutions. The story of how I came to this position is truly an example of God’s provision in my life and an answer to a prayer I didn’t know I was asking. The art of doing ‘sales’ was newer to me, coming from a communications and marketing background, but not unfamiliar. When I was approached with the job description, it felt a bit daunting to imagine stepping into something I would be learning and growing into as I went. After taking time to pray and consider, I said ‘yes’, sensing God’s prompting in every step of the process. Now, it has truly been a life-changing year, and I am incredibly grateful to the Lord for providing a space full of peace and joy.

My role keeps me moving from one end of the country to the next. It includes social media management, communications, developing marketing materials, presentations and workshops, to connecting externally with current and prospective schools through conferences, mailers, and school visits. I’m directly responsible for engagement within and outside the Plans as we foster their growth.

I have always enjoyed making connections with people, hearing their stories, and finding ways to play ‘Dutch Bingo’. It’s come naturally, being an extrovert in a community I come from. So, it’s only made sense to work in a position that allows me to do so. At the heart of that, I’m passionate about reflecting Jesus’ love in the relationships I build and creating meaningful connections. I believe that when people see genuine care and purpose behind what you do, it strengthens the community you build and helps others recognize and share in that same passion.

The world is so often fraught with darkness, and for kids, sometimes their whole world feels overwhelmed by it. As a Christian educator, working in public or private sector, you have the opportunity to be a light in that darkness. Speaking into a child’s life is a huge privilege, and sharing the Good News that comes with that light could make all the difference in how that child perceives themselves and others. They were created so wonderfully and intentionally, and you are showing them just how powerful that is as a child of God. Lean into that! It’s not just about making sure they know the curriculum, it’s showing Christ through the fruits of your labour that you might only receive a glimpse of this side of heaven.

The verse I carry with me comes from my days in GEMS, with Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” This verse continues to shape not only what I value, but how I show up in my work and my relationships, guiding me to act with integrity, treat others with compassion, and approach each interaction with humility. It is a constant reminder to respond in love and mercy, seeking to reflect that same grace to those around me in both word and action.

Meet our Manager of Executive Administration & Culture, Jenn Dromarsky!

I just celebrated my 1-year “workiversary” in February. It has truly been the best year of my professional life. I have felt peace within this job, right from the beginning in sending my application. It was the first time I hadn’t been nervous for a job interview, a very strange feeling! And I knew that if the Lord had His purpose in giving me this job, it would happen for me. I trusted in that peace & am so grateful that God placed me here.

My work involves a lot of administrative tasks, keeping the office and everyone around me organized & plugging along. I support the Trustees with all their communications, documentation, & meeting preparations. I also support the Managing Director with his scheduling & inbox, & task management. In the office, I handle all the details of the day-to-day, like vendor communications, office supplies, basically just sensing the needs around me & filling them. A lot of my work is in the nitty-gritty small details, ensuring nothing is missed or falls off anyone’s plates. It’s often a juggling act of priorities, taking on a little bit of everything!

It is truly an honour to live out God’s calling to servanthood, being able to serve others & practicing a selfless, others-first mentality in all that I do. It stretches me in the best ways, drawing me nearer to Christ & leaning on Him for strength on days when things are tough.

I am so passionate about our children! Their littles minds are so precious, Christ specifically called them to Himself in His ministry on earth. We are also warned so gravely in scripture to never cause a child to stumble; it is such a serious endeavour to teach & guide our children. Christian teachers have such a high calling: to shape education for our children in a way that honours & worships God, shows His handiwork in all things, & actively encourages them to be a part of His work here in their daily lives. In saying that, this role is difficult! There are so many trials & tribulations along the way that challenge & test your faith & your perseverance. My one message would be to endure, never give up praying for your students, & rely solely on Christ for your strength. Galatians 6:9 “Let us now grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

My favourite bible verse & the one I carry with me is Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me & gave Himself for me.” I love this verse because it preaches the gospel to me so succinctly. It reminds me of who I am in Christ & what my purpose is. I don’t live for my own flesh & the desires that go along with that, but I am dead to those temporary things, & instead, I live by faith in Jesus. Praise be to God for His indescribable gift, I am so unworthy, but He is so faithful, gracious, & kind!

Happy Earth Day!

Today and every day, we are called to be stewards of the Lord's creation; caring for the land we dwell on and utilizing the resources we're given wisely.
May we be reminded that the earth, the universe, is the Lord's.

A sneak peek at some of our staff’s start to the week in the lower mainland, starting off with the SCSBC Navigate Conference at the Coast Tsawwassen and ending with a marketing shoot with Nate Dickson, owner of Woven Cedars at The King’s School in Langley.

After a few days of rain, the Lord blessed us with a beautiful morning of sun and blue sky just in time for some drone videography with John Martin.
