September was a great month of meetings and fellowship. We had John Sibbons from AMA as our guest speaker. John provided practical information and important reminders about staying safe when stopped on the roadside, responding to vehicle problems, and taking appropriate precautions when assisting others on the side of the road. We got an update on the activities at SEESA and enjoyed having our first 2 meetings there this month. We finished off with a lovely dinner at Pasta Brioni and thank them very much for contributing to our fundraiser last spring for Steven's Hope. Rotary Club of Grande Prairie president Kim Randall welcomed Judy Wilson from our club to speak on the Dr. Lorne Parker Legacy build for Steven's Hope.

The Grande Prairie Rotary Club has been a key partner in our fundraising efforts to bring the gift of education to Mozambique. Together with their help, and others in Rotary International District 5370, we are completing our 3rd school in the capital of Maputo.

Time for fun with a visit to Muskoseepi Park and a stop for the famous and delicious donuts in Crooked Creek!

We had some fascinating guest speakers this month. Gerald Osborn is the official Fringe Historian! For 35 years, Gerald Osborn has been the voice of Fringe Theatre. This year the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival spotlighted 209 theatre productions across 37 venues, with performances by more than 1,600 Artists from right here at home, across Canada, and more than 6 countries for 11 days in August. Gerald's stories were insightful and entertaining.

We also had Rona Fraser from the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts share with us all the wonderful things gong on at the facility, one of Edmonton’s most interesting art collectives, made up entirely of artists with developmental disabilities. So inspiring!!

Their values and mission align with our club and we see great potential for supporting each other in meaningful ways. So, lets start now! This Friday SEESA is holding a bottle drive from 10am - 3pm. Another fabulous Edmonton Marathon event in the books! We love volunteering here each year. The event is exceptionally run and the runners are inspiring. Some even dress up in full suits and others in banana costumes! Rotary International District 5370

Our amazing Rotary Club has its own charitable organization- Steven's Hope in Mozambique - and besides building schools, we also build hope through post secondary education! Our sponsored student pictured here - Esmènio Bernard Chichava - is studying law and we are as excited as heck to have been able to purchase a computer for him to assist him with his studies!

Rotary is living proof that small investments can return BIG benefits to a community!

This month our night was a small but wonderful evening at Post Time At Fitzgeralds. We had great food and conversation. We really appreciated them supporting us with our Theatre for Hope fundraiser in May, and wanted to make sure we acknowledged their wonderful donation by including them in our support local outings.
