🧘‍♀️ NGM is excited to be hosting a Saturday Morning Summer Yoga series at the Mill Creek Healing Park!

Join us for our next Saturday morning yoga session with earthcitysoul! Certified yoga instructor, Kaliegh Boyce, will be leading us through a 75 minute outdoor flow class. Connect body to breath as we build strength and somatic awareness, tuning into natures rhythms in the Mill Creek Healing Park. This playful, energizing class is intended to open our hearts and build confidence through connective movement. Bring your mat, waterbottle, and some comfortable clothes to stretch and rise with the sun. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or brand new to the practice, all are welcome!

🐝 Have you ever wondered about our native pollinators? Who they are? How they live? What we can do to support them?

Join NGM at the garden to learn about native pollinators and what we can do to make our gardens more pollinator-friendly.

During the workshop, we’ll gain knowledge about our many native pollinators AND we will make some native plant seed balls to take home! We’ll follow the beginner pollinator workshop by planting native plants to make the community garden a more colourful and pollinator-friendly space.

Let’s grow a food system that benefits our communities AND one that is in harmony with the land.

You only need 4 ingredients to start composting!

🤎 Browns
💚 Greens
🩵 Air
💙 Water

Once you’ve added your browns and greens in equal parts, make sure they stay moist. Then, stir 1-2 times per week to ensure they are getting lots of air, which helps it from getting smelly! Watch as the waste breaks down in front of your eyes, turning into black gold…compost!

With full hearts and bellies, we completed our last Community Cooks class!

The biggest thank you to everyone that came together to make these classes a success. Our partners Touch Grass Club 4B Harm Reduction Society - YEG New Grocery Movement. Our funders, the Edmonton Heritage Council Marlin Schmidt. The many community leagues and cultural centres that hosted us in their kitchens. The cooking leads who shared their stories and recipes. And to all of you, that came to gather to cook with us!

It’s true, the food tastes better when community cooks together 💛

And that’s a wrap!!

Yesterday marked the very last class of our Community Cooks series, and we couldn’t have ended it on a better note. We made hearty elk stew from donated meat thanks to our cooking lead evelyn with cheesy bacon bannock on the side. We are grateful to Elmwood Community League for hosting us. It was the perfect end to a wonderful series.

We have had so many heartwarming moments learning meaningful stories behind the colorful array of cultural dishes we cooked our way through during Community Cooks. Thank you for showing up to cook with us, and for community. Our teams are taking a much deserved break while we dream up the next vision for Community Cooks!
