Mitten Matchup Looking for .... lonely mittens! We match them up and donate them to warm the hands of Edmontonians Say no to

One of our little one's lost their mittens (even with the mitten clips on!) and we were fortunate enough to be able to go out and buy a replacement pair right away. I looked at his lonely mitten that had lost its pair and wondered what I could do with it. It was in great condition and knowing that there are some kids and adults that can't afford mittens, I figured they might appreciate something w

arm even if it didn't match (I know I would!). I looked online and wasn't able to find an organization that tries to match mittens up (can you believe it?! :)), so I called a few shelters and they said that even though they've never been asked to take mismatched mittens that they will keep them on their shelves for kids and adults to take if they choose. I figured this was a better option than just throwing them away. It truly breaks my heart to hear that kids go to school without proper protection from the weather. So if you're just going to throw the lonely mitten out, please pass it onto us and we might be able to find it a new home! Any size or color is accepted and we will try our best to match them up! Our first two winters running this was a success - our drive resulted in over 130 mittens collected and 49 pairs donated to a local charity.

After five wonderful years of helping lost mittens find their match, we’ve decided it’s time to hang up our hooks. “Mitten Matchup” has been such a fun, cozy community effort — thanks to everyone who donated, searched, and gathered lonely mittens along the way! 🧤

Due to limited time and space, we’ve wrapped up the project. We’re so grateful for all the warmth (and wool!) you’ve shared over the years to warm the hands (and hearts) of Edmontonians 💕 thank you!

Though the weather has been mild for November so far, the days have gotten chillier and winter is around the corner! We are still collecting mittens and gloves (year round actually!) so if you come across any mittens or gloves that have lost their other half, send them our way! We have drop off locations in Glenora, Summerside and St. Albert.

Here's a throwback to our last sorting session - we were excited to see similar mittens to make this match of purple mitts - the more we have the easier the matching! 3 lefties and a rightie made a pair!

Let it snow.... mittens! The first week of snowfall in the winter season is the hardest (or, if you're like me, maybe all of them are hard!) as we all scramble to pull out our mittens and gloves. You might have come across some that are missing its other half and we would love to take them!

Here at Mitten Matchup, we collect lonely mittens or gloves that are no longer part of a pair, to match up with other gloves and mittens of similar size, shape and color to then be donated.

Help us warm the hands of Edmontonians and contact us to find out how!
