What an incredible community effort! πŸ’™πŸ₯«

Today, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to our Summer Food Drive: Fill the Bag, and to the amazing volunteers who helped make the day such a success.

Because of your generosity, we collected over 1000lbs of food that will help individuals and families in our community access nutritious food and essential resources this summer.

THANK YOU

Today is Holocaust Survivor Day.

On this global day of gratitude, celebration, and recognition, we honour the extraordinary individuals who survived the Holocaust and rebuilt lives, families, and communities.

We are proud to support Holocaust survivors in our community through programs like CafΓ© Europa, where connection, culture, and friendship continue to flourish.

Our recent CafΓ© Europa gathering featuring a beautiful musical performance by renowned flutists Suzanne Shulman and Kelly Williamson.

June is Seniors Month in Ontario! πŸŽ‰

This year's theme, "Ontario Seniors β€” Let's Get Moving," celebrates programs and initiatives that promote wellness, social engagement, and lifelong learning for older adults.

We're proud that the Seniors Living Well Centre (SLWC) is a recognized Seniors Active Living Centre, receiving funding from the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility to help older adults stay active, healthy, and connected.

From Low & Slow Hikes, Functional Fitness, and Mindful Movement to social, educational, and cultural programs, we're committed to supporting seniors in living well and aging well.

June is a month of recognition, celebration, reflection, and action.

This month, we acknowledge and honour Seniors Month, Pride Month, Men’s Mental Health Month, and National Indigenous History Month, alongside many other meaningful observances.

At HJFS, we believe that we can celebrate and advocate, learn and unlearn, listen and speak upβ€”all at the same time. These observances are each significant in their own right, deeply interconnected, and deserving of our attention and respect.

Throughout June, we invite our community to join us in recognizing the diverse experiences, identities, histories, and contributions that strengthen our community every day.

Together, we continue building a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable future.
