CMHC and SHD rental homes will receive weekly yard maintenance throughout the summer (weather depending). This will continue until fall of 2026. SHD clients will be advised when the service will be stopped for the season.

📆 This chart shows on what day of the week workers will be onsite to provide yard maintenance.

PLEASE ENSURE:
✅ All personal items, pet waste, and yard debris are removed prior to your
scheduled service day.
✅ Pets are secured inside your unit during yard maintenance.
✅ Your yard is properly prepared on your designated day, so we can complete the scheduled work. If the yard is not ready or your pets are outside, work will resume the following week once your property is ready for access.

Friendly reminder, as part of the Housing Policy, it is SHD client’s responsibility to ensure homes and yards are kept orderly and in a condition that allows for maintenance of your unit.

Huy tseep q’u siiem for your cooperation.

🏠 Reminder: Homeowners Health & Safety Renovation Project

** Send in your application before Sunday, May 31, 2026!

This is a reminder for on-reserve homeowners that they may be eligible to apply for the 2026 Homeowners Health & Safety Renovation Project.

Through this program, up to $95,000 per eligible home may be available to help complete important health and safety renovations that improve the safety, livability, and longevity of your home.

You may be eligible if you:
• Are a Cowichan Tribes member who owns and lives in your on-reserve home
• Can provide proof of home ownership
• Have not received this funding in the past 10 years
• Have a home that needs renovations to address health and safety concerns

The first step is to submit an application for a Property Condition Assessment, which will identify what repairs are needed for your home to qualify for funding.

Please note: If the assessment identifies repairs that exceed $95,000, HOMEOWNERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COVERING THE ADDITIONAL COSTS.

A quick yard check goes a long way!

As part of Schedule C, tenants are responsible for keeping lawns and yards maintained. This includes managing weeds and moss, filling driveway potholes, and keeping yards free of unused items. It helps keep our community clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
