Dinosaur District Annual Meeting – D DINOS DID IT AGAIN!
November 2025
Under the leadership of our DDGM, Right Worshipful Robert Zabat, the Dinosaur District once again came together for our annual District Meeting! Oh what a fantastic and memorable one it turned out to be!
Even as early as 9:00 AM, during registration, laughter and good-natured banter filled the lodge from brethren across Alberta! What a turnout! You just know that this was going to be an epic day! Truly a testament that brotherly love, friendship, and support are alive and well within our Craft!
The day kicked off with an engaging and enlightening Masonic Lecture by Right Worshipful Dr. Jojo Concepcion — a man who wears many hats: physician, CEO, and educator. His talk covered important (and sometimes hushed!) topics like hypertension, diabetes, and yes… Erectile Dysfunction! He reminded us, “As men, we rarely discuss these matters — we’re either ashamed or think we’re too macho for it.” Yet his delivery was equal parts informative and hilarious. One moment, you could hear a pin drop, then the next, the lodge would roar with laughter. Even then, you know that each of the brethren will start booking their annuals with their family doctor! Mission Accomplished! And let’s not forget his most important advise: “It’s never a good sign if, during a colonoscopy, you see the doctor’s both hands on the table!”
Following that, Most Worshipful Chris Uchman took the floor with an inspiring message on the importance of travelling and visitations. He reminded us that a Mason’s journey extends far beyond the four walls of his own lodge. Sometimes, he said, that the best Masonic lessons are learned outside your comfort zone. Travel! Meet new people! See other practices! Both share and experience each others cultures! Learn and share new knowledge! This is what Masonry is all about! However, lest we forget, always advise the wife first before jetting off on your Masonic adventures!
After two stellar presentations, the lodge was tyled, and our formal District Meeting commenced under the direction of Right Worshipful Robert Zabat. Each lodge then presented their annual reports, and it is good to hear that each lodges have reported positively. This was then followed by a solemn and heartfelt memorial service honoring our dearly departed brethren. We offered up prayers and flowers at the sacred Altar.
The meeting was then concluded with uplifting remarks from Most Worshipful Chuck Rose, who congratulated the DDGM for a successful day and reminded us all that Masonry is about dedication, fellowship, and fun. He advised all the brethren continue living our vows — and enjoying the journey while we do it!
Of course, no Masonic gathering is complete without a Festive Board! Right Worshipful Robert Zabat and his lovely wife, Sister Jocelyn Zabat, along with the Order of the Eastern Star (always present and active in all Dinosaur District activities) prepared an incredible feast. Right Worshipful Brother Mike Yavis took the reins as Toastmaster, and true to form, the evening was filled with laughter, toasts, and good cheers.
BUT WAIT! There’s more! DDGM Robert Zabat hosted an after party at the Quality Hotel where everyone had another round of food, drinks, merriment, raffles, and fun prizes! - A perfect cap to a day of learning, brotherhood, and fun!
Until next time, brethren — keep travelling, keep learning, keep the fire burning, and have fun while at it!
