🌿 Today we’re proud to share that Camp Shegardaynou has been permanently protected through a new conservation partnership in Ontario. Through our partnership with the Ontario Conservation Accelerator and Thames Talbot Land Trust, this special place will be protected forever while continuing to connect people with nature.
The 21-hectare site near Princeton will now be known as Sycamore Valley, honouring the beautiful sycamore trees that have been part of so many Scouting memories. This partnership reflects Scouts Canada’s commitment to delivering meaningful outdoor adventures for young people and to prioritizing that Scouts lands considered for sale remain as conservation lands in perpetuity—strengthening climate resilience, biodiversity, and community connection to nature.
We are grateful to all partners involved in this project and to the Ontario Incorporated Body for their collaboration in enabling this important transition.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Sycamore Valley carries forward a legacy of adventure, learning, and connection to the outdoors.
Thank you to the Ontario Conservation Accelerator, the Thames Talbot Land Trust, he Ontario Incorporated Body, the Echo Foundation, Oxford Community Foundation, as well as Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund and the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks’ Species Conservation Program, as administered by the Ontario Land Trust Alliance, for making this project possible.
