Another busy weekend for FAARS.
We received a call about a family of kittens living underneath the Lodgepole General Store. Thankfully, everyone at the store were incredibly helpful and worked with us to make sure the cats were not left sitting in traps for long periods of time. Emily Ranger spent hours monitoring the traps, but the cats were mostly coming out during the nighttime rather than during the day. Thankfully, with the help of some wonderful people in Lodgepole keeping an eye out for them, we were able to get them to safety as quickly as possible.
We successfully brought in the entire family; four kittens, mom, dad, and possibly an auntie as well. They are all very scared right now, but with time, patience, and love, they will come around.
On top of this rescue, we also received a call about a tiny neonatal kitten near Evansburg that still had his umbilical cord attached. He was found alone in the middle of a yard with no mama in sight. We made the trip out to bring the little guy into safety and, of course, make sure he has formula and all the necessities needed for a neonatal baby to survive and thrive.
This rescue weekend took a lot of time and resources. Over the weekend alone, we made six trips from Drayton Valley to Lodgepole to monitor traps and transport the cats as soon as they were caught and a trip to Evansburg for the neonatal kitten.
It has been a very busy weekend at FAARS, but seeing these animals safe makes every mile worth it.
If you would like to help with the costs of their care, we would be incredibly grateful. Every rescue like this comes with expenses for food, litter, medical care, formula, fuel, and supplies, and community support truly makes these rescues possible.
Thank you to everyone who helped make sure these little ones are now safe.
