We’re warning the public about an active scam where fraudsters are posing as the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), claiming your accounts have been compromised. Victims are then being pressured to send money through Bitcoin ATMs or cryptocurrency platforms.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up and contact your bank directly using a trusted phone number or website.

Do not send money, cryptocurrency, or provide personal or banking information to unsolicited callers.

The CAFC will never ask you to move money to cryptocurrency.

If you have been targeted or have information, please report it to EPS using our non-emergency line 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile device within city limits or by submitting a report online at edmontonpolice.ca.

Ponoka RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating 17-year-old Talon Horton, who was last seen in Ponoka, Alberta on August 29, 2026.

Talon was last seen at approximately 4:15 p.m. Police say she may currently be in the Red Deer or Edmonton areas.

RCMP are concerned for Talon's well-being and would like to speak with her.

Talon is described as having a medium complexion, standing approximately 5'5" tall and weighing approximately 100 pounds. She has blue eyes, and RCMP report that she was wearing a black wig when she was last seen.

She was last seen wearing all black clothing, silver shoes and a blue medical mask.

Talon is known to change wigs and alter her appearance. Because her appearance may differ from the photograph most familiar to the public, we have included multiple images showing different variations of her appearance.

Regardless of previous missing-person incidents, Talon is currently a 17-year-old missing youth whose well-being is a concern to police. Anyone who believes they have seen her is asked to report that information rather than attempting to determine the circumstances of her disappearance themselves.

Anyone with information regarding Talon's whereabouts is asked to contact:
📞 Ponoka RCMP: 403-783-4472
📞 Crime Stoppers (Anonymous): 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

Alberta Unsolved will be strictly moderating this post. Comments deemed inapproriate will be removed. This is an active missing-youth appeal, and the purpose of this post is to help locate a 17-year-old safely.

DAY TWO: The Wildcats Are Officially Back!
Today we welcomed our Grade 7 & 8 Wildcats to Wm. E. Hay and for our Grade 7s, it was their very first day in the school!

There was a LOT to learn today…
How exactly does one open a locker with a combination lock?
Which hallway leads where?
Who is my teacher again?
And perhaps most importantly…how do I get to class without looking completely lost?

Don’t worry, Grade 7's, you’ll have this place figured out in no time. By the end of the week, you’ll be navigating the halls like you’ve been here forever!

This morning our mascot, W***y the Wildcat, gave our SRO, Constable Witmer, a well-deserved fist bump before the day got underway.

Finally, thank you to our parents and families for your patience and cooperation as we work through the temporary traffic disruptions around the school. We know the reduced entry and exit options can make drop-off and pick-up a little more challenging. We’re hoping it’s only a few more days of traffic gymnastics before we’re back to normal!

We’d call that another successful day!
