June absolutely flew by, look for upcoming June event recaps!!
First let’s start off with District Convention at the beginning of June, hosted in Swift Current!!
We are 1 of 8 districts that are in Kin Canada; our district is “District 3” and is made up of members from clubs all across Saskatchewan. We are the only district that includes members from 1 province, in its entirety!
District Conventions is an annual event where Kinsmen and Kinettes from our district (aka D3) get together for service projects, education, fellowship, General Meeting, and celebrations. This year our District KINvention was held in Swift Current.
The exciting things that happened at KINvention 2025 are:
- Friday afternoon consisted of service projects, for those who could attend. We could choose between helping at the Swift Current Humane Society, planting trees at a dog park, or cleaning ditches of Kinsmen Highway.
- Friday night consisted of registration and a social. Each year there is a theme for the weekends festivities. This year was “Game Shows”. Members of the Dinsmore Kinette crew in attendance, came dressed up as players on the Price is Right; we even found a Bob Barker for the evening. AND …. we won best costume!!
- On Saturday our club members whom this was their first time attending Districts were given recognition and brought in as a train through the crowd. High fives all around.
- Things that also happen during the General Meeting: We do a recap of the current Kin year (July 1st 2024-June 30th 2025). We discuss motions pertaining to our Bylaws and House Rules that need addressed. We do a review of the districts budget. We introduce Chair persons and those who form the upcoming years Foundation Committee & TeleMiracle Committee.
- In the evening we often look a little fancier! We had a delicious supper, prepared by a local caterer. An award ceremony held to recognize that members of D3 Kin work tirelessly through the year to provide for their communities and in our Province to “Serve the Community’s Greatest Need”. Awards are given to many well deserving Kin! Whether it be recognition for Club Education, Social Media, Visitation efforts, or for individuals who have made a big impact within the District. Congrats to the winners!! Lastly we welcome and introduce the new district team for the upcoming Kin year (July 1st 2025-June 30th 2026). This is all followed by a dance/social.
District KINvention is a fantastic opportunity to meet other members from clubs across our province. The members from our Kinette club who attended, had a fabulous time!!
