🧡 An Evening of Learning, Reflection & Connection

In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite you to join us at the Tsawwassen First Nation Cultural Hub for a meaningful evening of learning, reflection, and connection, proudly presented by FortisBC.

Our guest speaker, Kaanáx̱ Kuwóox̱ʼ Nathan Wilson, Daklaweidi Clan – killer whale, will share stories of his family, land, and the enduring relationship his people have with these territories. As the Indigenous Educator and Cultural Enhancement Facilitator for the Delta School District, Nathan has worked throughout the community to bring Indigenous knowledge and teachings into classrooms.

During the evening, you will also have the opportunity to learn about the significance of the Tsawwassen First Nation Cultural Hub. Guests will also enjoy light refreshments, provided by Oceãza Cuisĩne.

The Delta Chamber is excited to welcome Mel Elegance Lavender Farm as one of our newest members! Our Executive Director, Richard Wischnewski, was also honoured to attend their recent grand opening and celebrate this exciting milestone alongside their team and members of the community.

Here is a little more about Mel Elegance, in their own words:
“Mel Elegance™ is a lavender farm and skincare & wellness brand based in Delta, BC. We grow lavender on our farm with a focus on sustainable and organic farming practices, and create lavender-inspired skincare, body care and wellness products under our philosophy, ‘From Farm to Body.’ Our goal is simple: to help people rest better, feel better, and live better, because we believe that when you rest well, everything else feels a little better.”

Every new business that joins the Delta Chamber strengthens our local business community. We gathered at the beautiful Southlands Red Barn to celebrate the incredible women who make our community stronger through leadership, resilience, and connection.

🎉 The Delta Chamber of Commerce is excited for today's announcement from the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority that the $6 million Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Community Investment Program is now open for its first intake.

This important investment represents a significant milestone for Delta, creating new funding opportunities for local organizations.

Through this first intake, eligible Delta organizations can apply for grants of up to $25,000 to support projects that strengthen our community and/or strengthen conservation efforts.

As the RBT2 continues to move forward, the project is expected to create thousands of construction jobs, support long-term employment opportunities, and generate lasting economic benefits for Delta and the region.

The Delta Chamber of Commerce was pleased to attend today’s announcement by the Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, regarding the Port of Vancouver Gateway Strategy. Executive Director Richard Wischnewski and Board Chair Ben Martin were proud to represent the Delta Chamber at this significant announcement.

The event also featured Peter Xotta, President and CEO of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, alongside the Minister of Veterans Affairs, Honourable Jill McKnight, MP for Delta, and other distinguished guests.

The announcement includes advancing Roberts Bank Terminal 2 for consideration as a project of national interest, as well as strategic investments in port and rail infrastructure to strengthen Canada's supply chain, increase export capacity, and support long-term economic growth.

The Delta Chamber of Commerce looks forward to continuing to work with all levels of government, Indigenous partners, industry, and the business community to support responsible economic development that benefits Delta, British Columbia, and Canada.

The Delta Chamber of Commerce was pleased to host a productive business roundtable with Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board, Tom Osborne, and Minister of Veterans Affairs, the Honourable Jill McKnight, MP for Delta, bringing together leaders from across Delta's business community.

The discussion provided an excellent opportunity for local businesses to share their perspectives on issues affecting our economy, including reducing red tape, strengthening Canada's competitiveness, supporting Canadian businesses, infrastructure priorities, transportation, labour challenges, and opportunities for economic growth.

We sincerely thank everyone who came together to share valuable insights and engage in meaningful discussions that support Delta's business community.

At the Delta Chamber of Commerce, advocacy remains one of our highest priorities. We are committed to ensuring the voices of Delta businesses are heard at every level of government and to fostering strong partnerships that support a vibrant and prosperous local economy.

It is with profound sadness that the Delta Chamber of Commerce announces the passing of our friend and Board Director, Neeraj Walia.

Neeraj was a respected community leader whose dedication to serving others left a lasting impact throughout Delta and beyond. As Secretary and Head of Operations of the Guru Nanak Food Bank, he played an instrumental role in supporting thousands of individuals and families through compassionate service, food security initiatives, and community outreach.

As a valued member of the Delta Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Neeraj brought wisdom, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to strengthening our business and community. His leadership, generosity, and spirit of service will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, and members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Neeraj's family, friends, and everyone at the Guru Nanak Food Bank during this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn his loss.
