A big thank you to Amira and Charlie, Grade 5 students from Hawthorne Elementary, who raised $126 through their lemonade stand in support of Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. These two young philanthropists chose to support Delta Hospital, with their donation going toward the purchase of new equipment to support patient care.

Amira and Charlie have shown that you're never too young to make a difference, and their lemonade stand is a wonderful example of how small acts can have a big impact in our community. We're so grateful they chose to support better care for patients at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care!

This World Mental Health Day, we're recognizing the importance of supporting healthcare workers who care for our community every day. Working in healthcare can mean navigating stressful, emotional, and sometimes traumatic situations. That's why access to mental health resources and peer support is so important for the wellbeing of frontline teams.

As highlighted in Fraser Health's story featuring Delta Hospital Emergency Department Manager Clay Gillrie, initiatives like the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team and the comforting presence of Ceri, an Operational Stress Intervention dog, help health care workers find moments of connection, comfort, and calm when they need it most. Thank you to Ivy Tam for her generous $100,000 gift to our Elevating Care: Bringing MRI to Delta Campaign, helping bring MRI services to Delta Hospital and expand access to diagnostic care close to home.

A long time Ladner resident and dedicated supporter of local healthcare, Ivy's remarkable contribution brings us one step closer to introducing MRI services at Delta Hospital for the first time in our history. Once operational, the MRI is expected to provide up to 10,000 scans annually, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the community for diagnostic imaging appointments.

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Boates as Board Chair for 2026/27. He is joined on the Executive Committee by Sue Dujmovic, Vice Chair; Paul Challinor, Treasurer; and Andrew Jackson, Past Chair.

Joining the Board this year are Warren Flandez, Dr. Danny Gillis, Scott Stoilen, and Natalie Walker, with Pam Paton returning after a one-year hiatus. Other returning Board members include Sarah Gallop, Knut Nordlie, Shannon Okun, Karen Powar, and Don Sangster.

We’re proud to welcome our 2026/27 Board of Directors and thank these dedicated volunteers for their commitment to local health care. Their leadership and expertise will help guide our efforts to fund critical equipment, support patient care, and advance health care priorities across Delta.

October is Occupational Therapy Month! Thanks to generous donor support from the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society, Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation funded a Sara Stedy Mobile Lift. This sit-to-stand transfer aid helps caregivers safely assist patients with mobility and daily transfers, enhancing comfort, promoting independence, and reducing the risk of injury. Thank you to our Occupational Therapists for helping patients regain confidence, independence, and the skills needed to navigate daily life.
