Campers in our full-day programs learned about Son jarocho in Musical Arts today and tried some traditional dance steps with faculty assistant Ana. What a treat!

Our much-loved music sponsorship program is returning after being on hold since 2020! Come and hear beautiful music for recorder and support a local student and former Summermusic camper, Emma Bagshaw, who is raising funds to help finance her university tuition. Emma will be pursuing post-secondary studies in Early Music on Recorder at McGill University, and everyone at Summermusic wishes her every success in her chosen field! Thank you to everyone who came out to the Open House yesterday!! We had so much fun. A huge thank you to Marion and Saulius for all their organizing, our volunteers Miri, Maddy and Emma, our camp staff, the Youth Orchestra, the staff at the Hex, and of course, our amazing sponsors - Big Shiny Windows, Glow Esthetics, Baila Studio, Dr. Christy Natsis, Dr. Bruce Harle, and the Deep River Symphony Orchestra. We couldn't have done it without all of you!!

We are hosting an Open House on June 7!
This is a free, community family event at The Hex between 2 and 4.
The Open House will include Music for the Young activities aimed at 3-8-year-olds, along with music-themed crafts and games for older children and adults, plus baked snacks for all. You will hear informal performances throughout the Open House by Summermusic staff and campers, including members of the Deep River Youth Orchestra. Of course, all are welcome to join regardless of age!

Returning for 2026!! Are you an adult with experience playing an instrument who wants a chance to make music in a group this summer? This mini-course is for you! Adults in this mini-course will be formed into small ensembles, meeting regularly to rehearse a piece of chamber music chosen for their skill level. A member of our expert faculty will coach your ensemble, guiding you through technical challenges, musicality, and playing together in a group. Ensembles will be formed based on the instruments and experience levels of our participants. Want to play with a friend? Let us know when you register!

All participants in our Adult Chamber Music mini-course are expected to be able to read music and are required to provide their own instrument. Enrolment is limited depending on instrumentation.

The Adult Chamber Music mini-course will run on weekday evenings between June 15th – June 26th. Each ensemble will be scheduled for five sessions: four 75-minute coaching sessions plus the final soirée, when groups will show each other what they have been rehearsing in a casual, low-pressure environment.
