🍃 You may notice the raised garden bed/rock garden on the property, featuring painted rocks created by community members to show their support for the guests at Bulterys House. Each one is a small but meaningful reminder of the care and encouragement that surrounds this place. 🏡
We also see someone added tiny baby footprints to the fence. It makes us wonder if they knew that we proudly support expectant mothers ... 🤰🏻🤱💛 💛

A little kindness goes a long way … And this moment is still blooming in our hearts. 💛 One of our house guests left a beautiful parting gift for the team—flowers 🌸—as a simple yet meaningful, “thank you.” Gestures like this remind us why we do what we do. It’s not just about providing support—it’s about building genuine connections, mutual appreciation, and a true sense of home. 🏡
We’re so grateful to have been part of their journey, and even more grateful for the thoughtfulness they shared with us on their way forward. Moments like these also remind us just how special this place is—and how deeply it would be felt if we ever had to close our doors. 💔🏚

The compassion shown at the expo has carried forward into real world advocacy, with community members standing together to protect essential care. 💙🏡💙

Dawson Creek Society for Community Living (DCSCL), in partnership with South Peace Health Services Society, is proud to operate Bulterys House—a safe, welcoming place to stay for individuals and families who must travel for medical appointments or to be close to a loved one receiving ongoing care. By removing lodging barriers, Bulterys House helps ensure people can focus on what matters most: health and healing.

💔 As you may know, funding for Bulterys House is set to be discontinued as of December this year. Loss of funding will lead to poor health outcomes and strain on the healthcare system.
The discontinuation of funding for this service raises several urgent concerns:
🔹 Access to Care: Without local accommodation, people may be forced to delay or forgo necessary medical treatment due to travel and lodging costs. 🤰👶🤱
🔹 Equity for Rural Residents: Individuals from outlying communities already face significant barriers. This decision risks widening those gaps.
🔹 Impact on Families: Many people rely on support persons, who also depend on these accommodations to remain close during treatment periods, particularly during critical times such as ICU stays or palliative care.
🔹 Healthcare System Pressure: Without appropriate lodging supports during recovery, hospital stays may be unnecessarily extended, increasing system strain.
🔹 Cost and Quality Considerations: Medical-rate hotel stays can quickly become expensive and often lack the comfort and supportive environment essential during times of illness. These accommodations do not offer the same level of care, understanding, and community—such as access to a full kitchen, safe and supportive spaces, and family-friendly amenities like children’s play areas.
