⚠️ Cougar Sighting Reported in Chamberlain Nature Park June 24, 2026 ⚠️

We have received a report of a cougar sighting in Chamberlain Nature Park. While cougar encounters are uncommon, residents are encouraged to use caution when visiting the area and remain aware of their surroundings.

If you encounter a cougar:
🐾 Stay calm and do not run
🐾 Keep children and pets close by
🐾 Make yourself appear large and maintain eye contact
🐾 Back away slowly and give the animal space
🐾 If a cougar behaves aggressively, make noise, wave your arms, and be prepared to defend yourself

When enjoying local trails and natural areas:
✔️ Travel in groups when possible
✔️ Keep dogs leashed and under control
✔️ Avoid walking at dawn, dusk, or after dark
✔️ Stay alert and avoid using headphones

Note: The City shares public notices regarding cougar and bear sightings, as these animals may present a greater risk to public safety. Common wildlife such as deer, moose, and beavers are frequently observed in and around our community and are not typically posted unless there is an unusual public safety concern.
