How do we trim tiny lumber for a miniature house? A miniature table saw with a tiny blade of course.

The library is nearing the final stretch. It now needs windows, doors, and trim.

Update: Eric has been working hard on this all throughout Christmas break. Some of the upgrades include: Brighter lights, solid wood, imbedded super magnets instead of latches, more streamlined design, lighter weight, and hopefully, better books!

The previous library took nine months to build and lasted six years. We’re estimating that this one will take a year to build and will last for a lifetime with yearly maintenance.

Here’s a sneak peak at the new build. Backwards and upside down and covered in clamps and supports. We could still use some long clamps if anyone can lend us some for a few days!

Today I’m constructing the new front door and sidelight. They don’t make mini-sidelights so I had to buy a solid door, cut it in half vertically, and then cut out the top panels to make a hole for a window. It’s a lot more work but I think it will be worth it.

It’s time! We have finally sourced top quality materials and we’re ready to start construction on a brand new libray! This one will be just like the old one but tougher built, so we can enjoy the library without maintenance closures for years to come! If you would like to contribute to the new build, please donate here!

If you’re wondering why the library hasn’t been repaired this year, it’s because we’re planning on building a new one this summer. More information will follow. We are planning to source out some cedar for the rebuild, to make something more permanent. If anyone has suggestions for where we can get quality cedar (preferably 3/4” thickness) and/or access to a jointer and planer, please reach out!
