Back to the Sea Society is a nonprofit in Dartmouth, NS, working to spark curiosity for our ocean! The Touch Tank Hut is now CLOSED for the season.

Sea you summer 2023! Our vision is to bring the ocean to eye level through a community aquarium in Dartmouth, NS, with minimal impact on the ocean environment.

🍂 It's that time of year again – summer's over, and it's time to look back at some of our favourite moments!

What a season (and a team!) - we were so happy to meet so many new faces, spread our love of ocean critters! Thanks so much for all the support you and the community provided! 🩵

📣 Volunteer of the Month for August!

Lily is Back to the Sea's Volunteer of the Month for August! She has completed over 25 hours of volunteer work with us this summer, earning her the title of 'Committed Crab Volunteer' 🦀

She is an excellent interpreter, very enthusiastic about the facts and has a talent for engaging visitors!

Here's what Lily took away from her experience volunteering with us: ‘The Back to the Sea Centre has been such a wonderful experience for me. During my time, I have been able to apply my love for educating people about our oceans as well as spark curiosity in the community.’ - Lily
