Back to the Sea Society is a nonprofit in Dartmouth, NS, working to spark curiosity for our ocean! The Touch Tank Hut is now CLOSED for the season.

Sea you summer 2023! Our vision is to bring the ocean to eye level through a community aquarium in Dartmouth, NS, with minimal impact on the ocean environment.

💙 TOUCH TANK POP-UP ⛵

Our team is joining the free HARBOUR WATCH PARTY on Saturday June 20th, from 3pm - 6 pm with our portable touch tank!

👉 Rendez-vous at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park!

Come enjoy an incredible harbour view, some great vibes of the sailing races, and a fun community gathering.

Note, while we will only be present on Saturday, the Harbour Watch Party will happen both Saturday, June 20th and Sunday, June 21st from 3pm-7pm. It’s a bring your own chair event.

🫶 The diversity in nature is beautiful!

Have you ever spotted any of these small, elusive marine animals in our waters the last time you went snorkelling? 🔎

They are Nudibranchs! Often called sea slugs, they are known for their variety of shapes and bright colours.

These sea creatures are proudly colourful, and most of them are hermaphroditic (having both male and female reproductive organs).

Happy Pride Month!

Pride Month is celebrated throughout June every year in Nova Scotia to honour and celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

🐳 Looking for a fin-tastic, fun and family-friendly gathering activity to kick off Ocean Week Halifax? We've been collecting bottle caps for three years to create the perfect community event just for you! 🐚

📆 Saturday, MAY 30 and Sunday, MAY 31
🕕 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
📍 Back to the Sea Centre, 140 Alderney Dr, Dartmouth

DROP-IN event included with admission.

Activities:
🫟 Paint and decorate your own mosaic tile to be added to our COMMUNITY MURAL
🦀 Hands-on critter discoveries: ever wonder what’s living in the harbour and along the coast?
🍦 FREE ice-cream to whale-come you!

What to bring: Yourself in appropriate painting-gear! All materials will be provided.

Whether you are an ocean lover, protector, and/or explorer, this is your chance to leave your mark at the Centre and contribute to our new exhibit 💙
