LungNSPEI is providing FREE radon test kits to Nova Scotians who otherwise would not be able to afford to test their homes for radon gas. Click below for more information.

Annual household income has to be less than $60,000 per year. For the distribution of the free long-term radon test kits LungNSPEI will work on the honor system (we reserve the right to request proof of income)

Thanks to the Community Mobilization Team for inviting us to the community barbecue in Cherry Brook today. We had a great time connecting with community, talking about community health issues and meeting other service providers. What a great event!!! We are so glad we joined everyone!

Parents of children aged 4–17 may complete the survey on their child’s behalf; youth aged 13 and older also have the option to complete their own confidential self-report.
The survey is voluntary, anonymous, and confidential, and is available in four languages to make it more accessible. Participants can also skip any questions they prefer not to answer.

Community safety starts long before a crisis occurs.

The Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission found that poverty and economic insecurity can intensify many of the factors linked to violence, including:

⚡️family stress
⚡️social isolation
⚡️poor health outcomes, and
⚡️vulnerability to abuse.

The report emphasized that income security is not only an economic issue, but also a public safety issue. The message was clear:

👉Safer communities require investment in conditions that help people thrive. Health, housing, mental health, community well-being, and income security are deeply interconnected. Preventing violence means strengthening all these systems—not relying solely on policing.
