Today kicked off a Maritime tour of a 2 day Steward training seminar in Dartmouth, Moncton and Sydney hosted by Jamie Donnelly, the Director of Education for Teamsters Canada, with Teamsters Canada President François Laporte also in attendance.

Having our national leadership in the room with our Stewards where President Laporte reaffirmed Teamsters Canadas ongoing support for our Local and their dedication to providing our Stewards with top-tier education.

The entire seminar is focused on equipping our Steward Sisters and Brothers with the knowledge and tools they need to represent our members every day in all the shops we represent, with absolute confidence. By investing time and resources into this level of training, Teamsters Canada is actively helping us reinforce our foundation to ensure we continue to grow bigger, stronger, and more united than ever.

Next stop on the trail, Moncton New Brunswick beginning Thursday May 14th.

Purolator Stewards from every corner of the Maritimes have gathered this weekend with their Business Agent and Local Union President Andrew Clark, to lay the groundwork for our upcoming negotiations.

This coordination is about more than just a contract, it is about ensuring that every member is heard and every contribution is discussed and valued as we move toward renewing our Collective Agreement.

Solidarity is the backbone of our success, and seeing this level of unity and brotherhood across the provinces is truly inspiring. We are stronger together, and that collective strength is exactly what will drive us forward to secure the fair terms and respect we deserve.

Let’s carry this momentum from the meeting hall back to our workplaces, knowing that we are united in our purpose and unwavering in our commitment to one another. Stronger together, Maritimes proud.

Brother Ted Finley has officially reached retirement, wrapping up his career with Fundy Regional in Saint John.

Ted has served as a dedicated Shop Steward for many years, consistently standing up for and defending the rights of his fellow members. Most recently, he played a key role in negotiating and ratifying the newest collective agreement, which contained significant financial gains for the membership.

Now, Ted moves on to a well-earned retirement, ready to enjoy life on the other side, spending his time fishing and out in the woods.

Even while he was getting ready to go out fishing for Gaspereau with the boys he was still offering up his advice to help and support the membership.
Pictured here with newly Elected Shop Steward Dan Nelson, Ted is passing the torch to the next generation of labor leaders.

Congratulations, Brother. Enjoy your retirement you’ve truly earned it.

Cheers!

Your dedication, strength, and commitment have left a lasting impact on everyone who follows in your footsteps.
Enjoy your retirement Sister you have more than earned it. You may be retired, but you will always be a Teamster.
