MAPLE HALL NEEDS OUR COMMUNITY NOW MORE THAN EVER

For 120 years, Maple Hall has been where Cumberland comes together.

Generations have celebrated milestones, supported local causes, shared meals, danced, laughed, volunteered, and built lifelong friendships within these walls. Today, this treasured landmark needs our help.

To remain open and safe for future generations, Maple Hall urgently needs upgrades to its kitchen exhaust and fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA 96, as well as essential work to address building and access maintenance requirements. Together, these projects will cost approximately $80,000.

The Cumberland Lions Club has proudly cared for Maple Hall for more than 50 years, but this is a challenge we cannot meet alone.

Congratulations to Sylvain Souligny, our 3rd, and final, winner of our Take me out to the Ball Game raffle. Sylvain's ticket E-2455, has won him 4 tickets the the Toronto Blue Jays home game on September 12th against the Baltimore Orioles, plus $1,000.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported us by purchasing tickets or allowing us to promote the raffle at their events.

We will also take this opportunity to once again congratulate our winners of the previous two draws, Tracey Hayes and Lyne Proulx.

The Cumberland Lions Club was proud to partner with Rockland Giant Tiger for a BBQ fundraiser in support of the Rockland Soup Kitchen.

Thank you to FIT Matthew Wall for coordinating the event, store owner Sylvain St. Martin for donating all the food, and our Lions volunteers for serving the community.

Together, we raised $526.45!

Yesterday, we were delighted to present the cheque to Yvon Larocque, representing the Rockland Soup Kitchen.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the event.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Cumberland Lions Club and Rockland Giant Tiger for bringing everyone together for a delicious BBQ-and for donating the profits to the Rockland Soup Kitchen! It's local support like this that make our community so special. Thank you for making a real difference! 🫶

Congratulations to Raffle Two winner Lyne Proulx who picked up her winnings today at the Cumberland Market. They will be attending the New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays on August 16, 2026.

Starting today, the Cumberland Lions Club is launching a new community recycling initiative at Maple Hall ♻️

You can now drop off:

• Soft drink cans
• Beer, wine and other alcoholic beverage cans
• Plastic and glass alcoholic beverage bottles and containers
• Old or unwanted electronics

You’ll find the blue collection bin behind Maple Hall on Market Street. Please place beverage containers in the bin and leave larger items beside it.

Have a large quantity to donate? Send us an email and we’ll be happy to arrange a pickup.

Our second Blue Jays raffle draw took place on July 8, with Lions members present to mark the occasion. Congratulations to Lyne Proulx, our second lucky winner!

Lyne will get to attend the August 16 Blue Jays game against the New York Yankees with three guests and will also receive $1,000 to help with travel costs. We hope she has a wonderful time cheering on the Jays!

We were honoured to join the Cumberland Community Association and neighbours from across the community for a Canada Day celebration hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at at Baitun Naseer Mosque.

It was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate Canada Day and the diversity and community spirit that connect us.

Thank you to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for the warm welcome and for hosting this special celebration.
