Camp Stone has been part of the Kimberley community for generations, and the 1st Kimberley Scout Group is proud to be its steward.
Over the years, many people have come to think of Camp Stone and its trails as a public recreation area, and we understand why — it's a beautiful piece of land, and a lot of people feel connected to it. We're grateful for that.
We do want to clarify something, though: Camp Stone is private property, and access to the property and its trails is by permission of the 1st Kimberley Scout Group.
Camp Stone is used daily by Scouts and other youth groups, and it's rented to families and community groups who count on having the property to themselves during their stay. Unexpected visitors on the trails, even well-meaning ones, can create real privacy and safety concerns for renters and youth alike — and because trail conditions, maintenance work, and fire risk all change over time, it also matters to us that we know who's on the land.
None of this means we want Camp Stone to stop being something the community values. Quite the opposite — we'd love for it to keep being a special part of Kimberley for generations to come, and we're always open to conversations about how it can keep serving the wider community alongside Scouting and our renters.
So for now: please don't enter Camp Stone or use its trails without permission, even if the gate looks unattended.
