Rotarian Nancy Rogers popped down to Safeway to support the Special Olympics BC - Kimberley/Cranbrook BBQ Fundraiser, and our Rotary Club was thrilled to present a cheque for $2,000 to the program!

A huge shoutout to Cranbrook Safeway Canada for partnering with these incredible athletes and helping make this event such a success. Community partnerships like these make a real difference and help create opportunities for athletes to thrive both on and off the field. From June 11 to 21, visit your local Safeway to make your donation to the Special Olympics.

Proudly accepting the donation were Dave McLean and athlete Kole. Thank you to everyone who continues to support Special Olympics and the inspiring individuals who show us what determination, courage, and teamwork are all about!

What an uplifting and inspiring presentation today from Tristen Chernove: How Vision Unlocks Success

Tristen shared the remarkable story of his Paralympic cycling journey, his recent Western Canadian Road Racing Championship victory, and many other lifetime achievements—all made possible through a clear vision, unwavering focus, and determination.

He also gave us an exciting update on the future of our Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC), highlighting upcoming expansions and improvements that will benefit our entire region.

Thank you, Tristen, for reminding us that with vision, perseverance, and purpose, incredible things are possible. We appreciate you sharing your story and inspiring our Rotary family today!

WE ARE EXCITED!

Our club is incredibly proud of Rotary Scott Villa, a project built with plenty of love, sweat, and tears. For years, it has provided safe, comfortable homes for seniors in our community, and the impact has been immeasurable.
Why do we do it? Because we know we're making a difference. Our residents are more than tenants—they are family.
And because we have seen firsthand how much this project means to the people who call it home, we've decided to do it again!
We are thrilled to announce the development of Rotary Creekside Village, a new housing project that will continue our commitment to supporting seniors and strengthening our community.
But we can't do it alone.
We need your help to turn this dream into reality. Every donation, large or small, brings us one step closer to opening the doors of Rotary Creekside Village and providing more seniors with a place to call home.
Thank you for helping us continue to care for the people who make our community so special. Together, we are building more than homes—we are building community, connection, and a brighter future.

Please donate today and help us make Rotary Creekside Village a reality. ❤️🏡

Kenzie, we are so proud of you! Watching you learn, grow, and develop your incredible confidence and public speaking skills has been truly inspiring. You have accomplished so much, and we know you have a bright future ahead.
We wish you all the very best this Friday night—we'll be cheering you on every step of the way! Thank you for becoming part of our Rotary family. We are delighted to have you with us and can't wait to see all the amazing things you'll achieve. 💙💛
Good luck, Kenzie—you've got this! 🎉👏🌟

Over the next few days, we will be profiling our seven 2026 Cranbrook Youth Ambassador Candidates. In this post, we feature Kenzie Hert.

Kenzie is the eldest daughter of Stuart and Lindsay Hert. She has two younger sisters, Micky and Alexa.

Growing up, Kenzie lived on Vancouver Island and a west coast theme can be seen across her artwork. She is fond of acrylic paints, focusing on realism. When she’s not in front of a canvas, you can find Kenzie planning out a sewing project, a hobby inherited from her grandmothers.

Kenzie has always loved music, and she has been playing flute since Grade 6. Some of her favourite memories include band trips and music camp. Two of her proudest moments were accompanying piano in her first ever solo; and playing in an orchestra where there were only two flutes. Kenzie is currently teaching herself to play the penny whistle and hopes to someday play the piccolo as well.

Kenzie is in Grade 10 at Mount Baker. She has been on two leadership teams and was previously student council treasurer. She has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club’s Youth Impact and helped create Buttons & Beyond, a non-profit button making business that supports neurodiverse youth. There, she was the Creative Designs Manager.

Kenzie was honoured to be presented a Citizenship Award for her contributions to her school, as well as the Keystone Certificate in Leadership.

Following graduation, Kenzie would like to get a Bachelor of Education Degree and become a teacher.

Kenzie is proud to be sponsored by Cranbrook Rotary.

Please join us on Friday, June 19 at 7:30pm at Key City Theatre to support Kenzie and the other six 2026 candidates in the 2026 Youth Ambassador Showcase. Tickets are $20 and are on sale at the Key City Theatre Box Office and online at www.keycitytheatre.com

Rotarian Danielle Eaton had the pleasure of thanking our guest speaker today, Sonja Patron from the Cranbrook Farmer's Market.

Now celebrating it's 18th season, the market is thriving and bringing together the very best of our region — farm-fresh produce, locally raised meats, honey, spirits, baked goods, and an incredible variety of artisan creations.

Every Saturday, beautiful Rotary Park comes alive with the energy of vendors, volunteers, musicians, tourists, and local shoppers. It’s more than just a market — it’s a community gathering place where you can support local businesses, connect with friends and neighbors, and enjoy the very best the Kootenays have to offer.

If you haven’t stopped by yet this season, make it part of your Saturday routine. Come for the fresh food, stay for the atmosphere, and discover why the Cranbrook Farmers’ Market continues to be one of our community’s favorite summer traditions! 🌞🥕🎶🛍️
