"Coexistence sounds simple until you try to define it and get everyone to agree on one definition. Over my career, I’ve watched many different terms shift, stretch, and fracture depending on who’s using them and what outcome they want to justify. Today coexistence appears in policy documents, NGO campaigns, academic papers, and social media arguments. Yet beneath that ubiquity is a fundamental disagreement about whether coexistence can include direct intervention, including lethal removal, when conflict risk becomes too high.

We are excited to share something we’ve been working on with The Origins Foundation:

100 Proofs.

The idea is simple. There is a lot of conversation about hunting and conservation, but too often that conversation happens without showing what the work looks like on the ground.

So, we’re documenting it.

100 Proofs is a growing collection of real examples of how hunting and sustainable use are supporting wildlife, people and communities around the world. Habitat protected. Wildlife restored. Jobs created. Schools supported. Research funded. Communities strengthened.

And yes, Canada is represented! Proof #92 is happening in British Columbia

Despite the name, we’re not stopping at 100.

We’ve already surpassed that number, and we’ll continue releasing new Proofs that put tangible examples behind the conversation around sustainable use and conservation. Proofs will be released in batches and will be available on the Origins Foundation website and across its social media channels.

Caribou on Baffin Island are experiencing one of the strongest wildlife recoveries in the North. After years of low numbers, new surveys show the herds rebounding fast thanks to reduced predation and lighter harvest pressure.
