Community Futures East Kootenay (CFEK) is dedicated to fostering strong, vibrant local economies. Engaging in community economic development with local governments, key partners and stakeholder organizations, CFEK seeks to be a driving force for economic growth and sustainability throughout the East Kootenay. Led by a volunteer Board of Directors, CFEK’s dedicated staff supports the creation and e

xpansion of small businesses in the area. CFEK promotes economic development and the creation of jobs and wealth in our region by providing small-business loans for start-up, expansion or the purchase of existing businesses. In addition to financial support, CFEK offers a variety of business-related services, including knowledgeable, professional business consultation and access to training for entrepreneurs and their employees.

Every community has opportunities waiting to be uncovered. The challenge is knowing where to begin.
When Jessica Piccinin and Segun Fatudimu first started working together, they spent a lot of time getting to know the Creston Valley, its strengths, the opportunities that already existed, and where a social enterprise could make the greatest difference.
That work eventually led to the development of a social enterprise rooted in the needs and strengths of the community.
On September 2, Jessica and Segun will reflect on that journey together.
Rather than focusing only on the outcome, they'll share the conversations, decisions, unexpected turns, and lessons that shaped the process.
Whether you're exploring an impact-driven business, supporting local economic development, or simply curious about how community ideas and social enterprises take shape, we hope you'll join us.
