EAST KOOTENAY BIG GAME CLUB
BANQUET DONATION REQUEST

Our annual East Kootenay Big Game Club Banquet is coming up, and like many organizations right now, times are tough and donations are lower than usual.

This banquet helps support wildlife conservation, youth programs, and our local outdoor community. We rely heavily on the generosity of local businesses and individuals to make this event successful.

If you are able or inclined to help with a donation, whether it’s merchandise, services, gift cards, or other items for our auction and raffles, we would be incredibly grateful.

Every contribution — big or small — helps make a difference.

B.C. proposes banning lead shot for all hunting. We are encouraging you to submit your feedback before February 13th.

CSAAA opposes the proposed ban on lead shot for all hunting in B.C., which we believe is unnecessary and burdensome for businesses and hunters. We encourage all members to submit their comments as soon as possible to make their voices heard.

Statement from CSAAA

The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association strongly opposes British Columbia’s proposed expansion of the lead shot ban to include all hunting species.

This proposal is being framed as an environmental measure, but it comes off as a politically motivated move that disproportionately impacts lawful hunters, retailers, manufacturers, and small businesses across the province. If the primary objective were to meaningfully address lead exposure in wildlife, this is not the approach that would be taken.

Hunters are conservationists and strive for ethical hunting which is dependent on confidence, proficiency, and the ability to use the appropriate tool to ensure a quick, humane harvest. Removing hunter choice in ammunition selection increases the risk of poor outcomes in the field and runs counter to animal welfare.

This proposal is also unrealistic and unworkable for the hunting and fi****ms industry. Many fi****ms (particularly older and heritage shotguns) are not compatible with steel or other non-toxic shot types.

CSAAA urges the Province of British Columbia to reconsider this proposal and to engage meaningfully with hunters, Indigenous communities, retailers, manufacturers, and conservation experts to explore solutions that are effective, evidence-based, and respectful of lawful hunting traditions.
