Hey everyone,
About a year ago my daughters and I saw a short video that used a large resealable plastic bag to mix a ball of dough, it was formed into bread and baked. We tried the recipe and couldn’t get enough of it. Making dough this way also worked out well for us, because when I was in town visiting, we rarely had the space or equipment to bake, which is something we really enjoy doing.
We ended up making 10 kits that they brought home to their mother’s house, and they would show their friends and family that they could bake fresh bread or buns practically by themselves, they had help with the oven but are eager to do it on their own.
My kids and I agreed that it would be neat to share the all-in-one bread kit idea with others and over a year later, we are a couple weeks away from starting to manufacture the kits in a commercial kitchen in Cranbrook, BC and will be at local Farmer’s Markets to start, and hopefully expand to retail and online soon.
I’ve included a video and pictures of our packaging and I am excited to post more about the process once we get the shipment of exterior packages, final approval from Interior Health, and start manufacturing the products inside of the packages.. along with many, many other things. We will be posting more, including some videos on different ways we’ve cooked bread, which include the typical way in the oven, and other not-so-typical ways, like frying in a pan and an air fryer, over a campfire, in a Bar-be-que, etc..
I would also like to say that even though it’s early, I would love to hear any recommendations, tips, concerns, criticisms, comments, or anything about the packaging, the manufacturing, or whatever. I am open to anything that will help give me other perspectives about what we’re hoping to do.
And lastly, if you want any samples once I have inventory, please feel free to send me a private message with your address or a way that I can get a package to you, and it will be on its way ASAP.
Thank you for reading this post, I’m excited to hear the feedback.
Here are some highlights and why we think it’s a feel-good, convenient, and fun way to make fresh homemade bread either at home or on the go.
1. We are a Non-Profit Organization and will be donating to the Cranbrook Food Bank and other local charities. We are excited to give back to the community and this is our attempt at a sustainable way to do it.
2. Great tasting, fresh, homemade bread. Using only 6 common household ingredients, you know what you’re feeding your family.
3. Everything but the water is included in the bag. There’s no need for mixers, measuring cups, or a huge cleanup afterwards. Once the ingredients are combined, the dough remains in the bag until it is ready to be baked.
4. There’s unlimited potential for variations. We usually add cinnamon and extra sugar to make CinnaBread, or food coloring to the water to bake blue buns. The latest favourite includes chunks of pickles and all the included spices.
5. It’s ready in no time, and the mixing bag doubles as storage. In less than 10 minutes it’s ready to either cook or let it rise to bake soft, fluffy bread. Rinse out the mixing bag, let it dry, and use it to store your freshly baked bread.
We’re really excited to see what comes of this, and I have to say it’s been an adventure just getting to this point.
Thank you again,
Justin.
