PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT: JAMES VICKERS

Get ready for something special. James Vickers — Nanaimo-based, blues-rocking, Indigi-youth sensation — is bringing his acoustic solo set to the K'ómoks Fusion Festival on June 26.

James is the kind of musician whose voice and guitar fill a space without him having to ask. A solo acoustic set from him is a treat, and we cannot wait to share him with the Plaza.

The second CV/Arts x Tin Town Cafe is up! This showcasing features over 25 local artists and will remain on display until early September. Huge thank you to our install crew and for the extra hands that made the set up a breeze! Also thank you to .cafe for the delicious treats and hot drinks that kept us fueled up all afternoon.

There are still a few more finishing touches left for us to do - including signage, but the art is up and the cafe is open to the public for viewing!

***

Interested in getting your art in for the third round in the fall? Sign up to be a CV/Arts member and fill out the expression of interest form on our website. This opportunity is open to all CV/Arts members in good standing. 100% of sales go directly to artists (no commission!) and the location couldn’t be better to get your work noticed by the community!

Are you a member artist that missed pick up yesterday? No worries! We will reach out next week with additional pick up times. Please do not go to Tin Town Cafe to pick up your work! It has been relocated to the CV/Arts offices downtown.

STEP INSIDE THE ART WAGON

On June 26, for Pulse on the Plaza: K'omoks Fusion Festival, the CV/Arts Art Wagon will be parked right on the Plaza — and inside, it's transformed into something pretty special.

We're hosting an installation of Ancestral Echoes, a photo exhibition you can step inside the tiny trailer to experience. While you're in there, you'll be able to listen to the accompanying Ancestral Echoes podcast — stories of land, lineage and living culture, told in the voices of the people who carry them.

It's an intimate, quiet space inside a busy festival. Take a few minutes. Sit. Listen.
