The Rotary Club of Strathcona Sunrise was formed in 1987 and is a member of Rotary International, an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 34,282 clubs and ov

er 1.2 million members worldwide and as a result, some of the causes clubs take up vary. The members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians. Members usually meet weekly for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, which is a social event as well as an opportunity to organize work on their service goals. A small sampling of our projects includes:

Locally:
- Construction of the Rotary Outlook (Duck Blind, Comox Road)
- Refurbishment of Scout Camp Gilwell (on the Browns River)
- Rotary Bowl (Courtenay Exhibition Grounds)
- Construction of the Rotary Skypark in (Courtenay Air Park)
- Support of Highland Interact Club
- Grant bursaries to local high school students in the Comox Valley
- Support of Comox Valley Child Development Association's Autism Centre, YANA, Comox Valley Food Bank and other local charities

Internationally:

- Built a school and provided school buses and ambulances

- Protection of more than 50 springs (rural Kenya)

All funds raised by Rotary Clubs are 100% spent on Service projects – either locally or internationally.
