CVRR 5K Running Clinic....History

There once was a small dedicated group of runners who loved to run together, socialize together and travel together. They soon felt they should become a club and share their running enthusiasm with others in their community. This happened in 1980

The club became very successful and they soon had many new members. This prompted their next brilliant idea....to hol

d a running clinic. In 1986 the very first clinic was held and the club has kept this popular event going every year since.

Clinic: week 3. Our speaker is Kim Hall of Physio2u. She will be presenting on Injury Prevention for Runners.
As both an avid runner and a practicing physiotherapist, Kim Hall will share her knowledge with you today on running injury prevention. She has been an active member of the Comox Valley Run Club for the past 3 years after relocating to Courtenay from the Lower Mainland. Kim competed on the varsity track and field and cross country teams at UBC and Queen's University. She has also raced international 6 marathons including Boston and New York.

Kim is the owner and founder of Physio2U- a mobile physiotherapy company that provides in-home services for convenience and a personal touch.

As a strong believer in life-long learning, Kim has mentored many internationally-trained physiotherapists and completed a pilot study on an exercise program she helped create specific to people recovering from joint replacement surgery. She served three terms as a peer-elected board member for the College of Physical Therapists of BC from 2016 to 2024. She is an active member of the provincial Arthritis Continuing Education (ACE) Network, SportMed BC, the Physiotherapy Association of BC and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. In 2023, Kim won an award from the Doctors of BC for Excellence in Health Promotion. https://physio2u.ca/

The Cumbino! Almost purpose built graduating clinic participants... keep this in mind! Could this be your first race????? Why not????

Introducing The Cumbino — The Newest Race in The Cumby Trail Running Series

As The Cumby proudly enters its second decade, we’re thrilled to launch a brand-new addition to our race family: The Cumbino!

The Cumbino is designed to welcome youth and new racers. The Cumbino is a fun and approachable 4.5 km route. Don’t be fooled—this shorter distance still delivers the signature Cumby experience! The course follows its own scenic path before joining all other racers at Aid Station #3, ensuring everyone shares in the energy and excitement of race day.

For 10 incredible years, The Cumby has brought runners, families, and trail-lovers together to celebrate the beauty of the Cumberland Community Forest. As we stride into our next decade, our 2026 theme says it all:

“Every Racer Gets a Hill!

Our commitment to supporting the Cumberland Community Forest Society remains as strong as ever. Every step you take helps protect the trails we all love.

The Cumby Trail Running Series offers four fun, friendly events:
The Cumbino – 4.5 km (new!)
Quarter Cumby – 8.5 km
Half Cumby – 16 km
Full Cumby – 25 km

Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or lacing up for the first time, there’s a perfect Cumby race waiting for you. Join us in celebrating 10+ years of community, trails, and a whole lot of hills!

Registration opens February 1st.
