Tonight's Montessori Open House was a resounding success! It was fantastic to see so many families come out: great engagement & questions aplenty 😃 Thank you to the student volunteers for sharing the program 🤓

As we move through the quiet days between Christmas and the new year, we’re holding close the parents and caregivers who are carrying a lot. If you’re feeling stretched thin or unsure of what your family needs next, we want you to know you’re not alone.

Our January online events offer a place to learn together and feel supported. We’ll be exploring how to connect with our kids when anxiety leads to social isolation, and how to support safety at home after a mental health crisis.

Montessori Program | 2026–27 School Year

Families interested in the Montessori program for the 2026–27 school year are invited to attend an upcoming open house to learn more about this child-centred approach to learning.

The Montessori program is available at Queneesh Elementary and Courtenay Elementary and focuses on hands-on, self-directed learning that supports independence, curiosity, and collaboration.

Families are encouraged to attend the open house to meet staff, explore the learning environment, and ask questions about the program and registration process.

Mark your calendars, this happens in just over a week K'ómoks First Nation

National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations is coming soon!

K'ómoks First Nation and their community and cultural partners are inviting friends and neighbours from across the Comox Valley to a FREE ALL WELCOME celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day on Saturday June 21st from 12 noon till 9 pm at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds !

This year’s celebration includes cultural and environmental workshops, guided walks to the Tsolum River, K’ómoks culture and archeology displays, live screen printing, Youth and Elder Zones, delicious food including a traditional salmon BBQ, over 30 Indigenous craft vendors, and live music from world class Indigenous artists including Siibii, Garret T. Willie, Kaeley Jade and others.

Cultural Partners for this year’s celebrations include Kumugwe Cultural Society, Queneesh Indigenous Community Society, Wachiay Friendship Centre, MIKI'SIW Métis Association, Manidoo Waabiwin An Cultural Society, and Upper Island Women of Native Ancestry.

Great upcoming event by VI Regional Library Courtenay

Are you ready for summer adventures but need more gear? Did your kids grow two sizes this month? Do you have way too many sleeping bags? Why not share with your community and find new treasures for your summer frolics.

Guidelines:
🌞Freshly washed in great condition baby and kids sizes.
⛱️In-Season: Summer Vibes
🏕️Items: Baby and Kid Sized clothing and shoes, Sleeping bags, Kids camping gear. Sand and Water toys, Swim wear, UV Protection Hats and Sunglasses, and more.

Drop off: To help us best prepare for the event please drop off items in branch June 11- Saturday 21st.
