🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, we pause to remember the children who never came home and honour residential school Survivors, their families, and communities. We acknowledge that the impacts of residential schools continue today.

Members of our team will take part in the Comox Valley Spirit Walk, beginning at 10 a.m. in Courtenay. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather, listen, and learn alongside our community.

Our office is closed in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

🌱 Supporting local environmental action

This year marks the second year of CVCF’s two-year, $50,000 annual commitment to environmental initiatives that protect the Comox Valley’s natural environment and build climate resilience.

Funding will be distributed through our Environment & Conservation Community Table, with participating organizations invited directly.

💡 What’s a Community Table?

Community Tables bring together local non-profits working in a shared area to discuss current needs and opportunities and reach consensus on how funding can make the greatest difference.

It’s a collaborative approach that puts local knowledge at the heart of funding decisions.

💙 Supporting opportunities for people with diverse abilities through community-led funding

Support for the diverse abilities community will continue this year with a $50,000 commitment to the Opportunity for Diverse Abilities Community Table.

Participating organizations will be contacted directly with more information in the coming weeks.

This funding is made possible in part through dedicated legacy funds, including the Developmental Disabilities Fund, established to promote well-being for adults with diverse abilities living in the Comox Valley.

💡 What’s a Community Table?
A Community Table brings together local organizations with knowledge and experience in a shared area of work. Together, participants consider current needs and opportunities and use their collective knowledge to determine where limited funding can create the greatest benefit for the Comox Valley.

It’s one more way we’re working to make our granting responsive to community knowledge and the people doing the work.
