Labour Day isn't just a long weekend. It's a celebration of what workers have won by standing together, and a reminder of the fight still ahead: fair wages, safe workplaces, and the right to organize, all still under attack from employers and governments who'd rather we didn't have them.

This Labour Day, the BCGEU will be showing up across the province, from Victoria to Prince George. Find your local event and bring the family. 🌻

📍 Abbotsford — Mill Lake Park, 11am–2pm
📍 Burnaby — Edmonds Park, 11am–2:30pm
📍 Cranbrook — 118 9th Ave S, 11am–3pm
📍 Kamloops — McDonald Park, 10am–2pm
📍 Kelowna — Hollywood Road Educational Services, 12–3pm
📍 Ladysmith — Transfer Beach, 11am–3pm
📍 Merville — Merville Hall, 12–3pm
📍 Prince George — march at 10:30am, celebration at Canada Games Plaza 12–3pm
📍 Sunshine Coast — Dougall Park, 11am–2pm (40th Annual Labour Day Picnic)
📍 Victoria — Memorial Park, Esquimalt, 11am–2pm
📍 Warfield — Village Hall, 12–4pm

Not seeing your community? Check with your local labour council — more events may be added closer to the date.

USW Local 2009 strongly condemns the recent advertisement produced by Good Good Golf and Callaway depicting violence against women.

While they have since removed the advertisement and apologized, this content should never have been created, approved, or released in the first place.

As a union that proudly co-hosts the Bob Derby Memorial Golf Tournament with MoveUP, we believe sports should bring people together and create an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected, and safe.

Violence against women is never funny. It is not entertainment. It is not a marketing strategy. And it is never acceptable.

The values portrayed in this advertisement do not reflect the values of our Local or the principles we work to uphold in our workplaces and communities.

We can and should expect better.

Respect. Equality. Solidarity.
