Are you an employer who has newcomers to Canada on your team? Looking for a few hints to smooth the process?

The Immigrant Welcome Centre invites you to participate in an Employer Workshop, an informal time to learn, share, and discuss how to navigate the cultural and linguistic challenges that newcomers face in their new workplace.

We welcome any local employers or team leaders to join. The goal is to gather Canadian employers from all sectors, to highlight best practices that you can use to help newcomer workers adapt linguistically and culturally to the Canadian workplace.

The time commitment is minimal, but the insights could drastically improve your company’s/organization’s efficiency and improve overall worker/employer satisfaction and retention. Choose from one of the following dates in your area:

Campbell River – In person at The Immigrant Welcome Centre Campbell River
Tuesday, Oct 20th 10:30am-12:30pm

Courtenay – In person at The Immigrant Welcome Centre Courtenay
Tuesday, Oct 27 10:30am-12:30pm

Online – link to be sent to confirmed participants
Wednesday, Nov 4th 10:30am-12:30pm

What you can expect:
Insights into the newcomer experience at work
Understanding the specifics of the Canadian workplace (ie. Communication styles, hierarchies, cultural expectations of professionalism, initiative etc.)
The chance to explore your challenges/insights as an employer
Best practices in navigating these professional cross-cultural scenarios
