If you are unemployed or working 19 hours per week or less, you are able to book an appointment (by phone, zoom or in-person) with one of our Employment Counsellors to discuss your career and what options may be available to you. WorkBC Centre Courtenay services are available in French and English.

On June 1, 2026, BC's minimum wage will go up to $18.25 an hour. There are around 141,000 people earning minimum wage in BC and increases help workers keep up with the cost of everyday essentials.

Since 2024, minimum wage increases have been automatically linked with inflation, based on the previous year’s rate. This approach provides regular, predictable increases, helping workers plan their finances while giving businesses time to prepare.

Today is Moose Hide Campaign Day.

The campaign started as an Indigenous-led grassroots movement in BC to engage men and boys in ending gender-based violence against women, Two-Spirit and gender nonconforming folks, and children. Today it is a nationwide movement that brings together folks from all walks of life, united under that shared commitement. ⭐️

Rooted in Indigenous ceremony, learning and healing, the campaign is a powerful call to action. By wearing a moose hide pin, you show your commitment to honour, respect and protect these folks in our lives, and to speak out against domestic and gender-based violence.

Head over to our stories to share a photo of your moose hide pin and take part in collective action. 📣
