Happy Earth Day.
The lack of rain and run-off is already affecting the health of the river. We are busy rescuing young salmon from backwaters where they are stranded. So far, we have relocated 400 one and two year old Coho from Towhee Creek, as well as 300 Chum, 150 Pink and 120 Coho fry from two blind side-channels of the Tsolum.
Thank-you to volunteers and school groups who have been out to help.
If you see any concentrations of dead or dying fish, please contact us.
Eyes on the Tsolum River (EOTR) is a group of volunteers who regularly monitor the Tsolum, and are ready to organize fish rescues. The leads for this group are:
Allan- 604-815-9324
Stuart- 250-334-4146
