A Community That Cares: Honouring Sherry Lamarche

There is something truly special about a community coming together to remember someone they love while making a difference for others.

A heartfelt thank you to Krista and Mike O’Neill for organizing a golf tournament in memory of Sherry Lamarche, bringing family and friends together to celebrate her life, share memories, and honour her legacy in such a meaningful way.

Through this special gathering, those who knew and loved Sherry were able to spend time together in her memory while supporting the compassionate care provided at Carefor Hospice Cornwall.

Together, they raised an incredible $4,580 to help support our patients and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Thank you, Krista and Mike, and to all of Sherry’s family and friends for turning love and remembrance into something that will have a lasting impact on other families in our community. Your generosity means so much to us.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day

Today, we celebrate the moments that make hospice feel like home.

It’s sitting together in the courtyard, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
It’s painting rocks in our Memorial Rock Garden and leaving a little piece of love behind.
It’s sharing a laugh, having a conversation, creating something together, or simply being present in the moment.

Because hospice care is about so much more than care, it’s about connection, comfort, dignity and making memories together.

Every moment matters. Every memory is precious. And every person who walks through our doors becomes part of our hospice family.

Today, we celebrate the people, moments and memories that make hospice feel like home.

A big thank you to Rendezvous Pub!

Yesterday, Rendezvous Pub held their First Annual Chili Cook-Off and raised an amazing $600 for Carefor Hospice Cornwall. We are so grateful for the support and generosity of everyone who took part in making this event a success!

A special thank you to Marianne, Carol, Darlene, Faydra and Tracey for helping make this wonderful event happen.

Support Through Grief

Grief is a journey that looks different for everyone. Sometimes, having a safe space to talk, listen and connect with others can make the journey feel a little less lonely.

Carefor Hospice Cornwall is offering free grief support sessions this October for those who are navigating the loss of someone they love.

Today, September 30, marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day when Canadians honour the survivors of residential and day schools, remember those who never returned home, and acknowledge the ongoing trauma experienced by Indigenous families and communities.

As a healthcare agency, we at Carefor Hospice Cornwall, recognize the inequities that Indigenous people in Canada have faced in our healthcare system. We are a committed partner in changing the story for Indigenous people and are committed to truth, equity, and reconciliation as we embark on a new chapter through our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism strategy.

We join with people and organizations across Canada in honouring our Indigenous communities and peoples as we continue our journey towards reconciliation

Meet Dr. Diane Poilly!!

For many, Dr. Diane Poilly is a familiar and constant presence at Carefor Hospice Cornwall. With her humble, down-to-earth approach, her focus is always where it belongs, on her patients.
From a career in emergency and critical care to finding her passion in palliative medicine, Dr. Poilly brings years of experience, compassion and clinical expertise to the people and families she serves.

At Hospice, her focus is on something incredibly important: comfort, dignity and quality of life.

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Poilly, along with all of our dedicated physicians and staff, helping ensure our clients receive compassionate, expert care during some of life’s most difficult moments.
